4 Things I Learned From Stompernet Adwords Triangulation Video
Brad Fallon went through hell when his wedding favors site got nailed by the canonical bug in Google back in the fall of '06. Brad lost 50,000 unique visitors a month ... or basically half his business overnight. And to top it off, his wife was pregnant with twins.
He had one guy, Dan Thies, who figured out the problem but because it was a bug in Google nothing was going to happen on Google's end. At least not for awhile. So Dan came up with a plan.
The result? Brad's company recorded their best six months - ever.
His secret? AdWords.
But it goes beyond just AdWords because of the system Dan put into place, it literally saved Brad's business and it went against everything in the standard "PPC Book".
He outlines his method is a recent video which he calls his Adwords Triangulation Method. (which suggest there's 3 parts to it :)
I went through it a few times and also a big fan and student of Dan's methods. There are actually 4 parts to it.
Part One is to target users that have Commercial Intent..
How do you determine which one ? Ah....here's a cool site which enables you to get probability of commercial intent of your keywords.

Secondly, where do you anchor your Ad in the most profitable position?
You need to strive for top spot (forget about trying for position 5-8 as many gurus have you believe. Watch the result of the hotspots of clicks). The visitor value of top spot just outweighs the lower cost per click positions. " But, it's so expensive", that's what I thought. I actually learned some interesting tricks to make that possible more economical from Dan which he outlines in the video.
Third is create ads with the best combination of CTR and conversion rate. You need to rapidly test the ads to get the max sales.
Learn to use analytics to test your ad. Split test your ads (use splittester.com which is a free utiltiy). Write 4 ads and learn to rotate them cleverly so that you are not depriving yourself of 50% of the converting traffic.
Lastly you have heard about Google Slap. Well, the whole idea to get around that is Specificity.
Now, this video is from Stompernet, but this isn't some con into getting you to join. I don't care if you join or not. Seriously, I don't. They will sell by themselves and through their big network of affiliates and content distribution. (Remember, these guys are the masters of social marketing too).
When I saw Dan's video for the first time today, I made changes to my AdWords campaigns based on his advice immediately. It's that good that I am pretty sure I'll see the results in the next few days. They tested it with a lady and her ad spend was less than $5000 and generated $40,000!
