Most menopausal women are seeking ways to stop hot flashes, a really hot feeling in one’s face and neck causing you to turn your face red. To make the situation worse, this uneasy feeling is also accompanied by heart palpitations, sweating, headache, and dizziness. After the attack of hot flashes, your face will suddenly feel chilly.

I have compiled some very simple ways to stop hot flashes caused by erratic hormonal changes.

Keep your place cool
Just like summer heat, you should try to keep your room or office as cool as possible. Turn on your air con or electric fan and open your window to let the fresh air in. The idea here is to stop hot flashes is to keep a constant room temperature as long you can.

Along with that, stay away from really hot places outside and try find the cool spots wherever you go. This might be your sanctuary once hot flashes attack.

Bye bye spicy hot deli
Heard of the saying “you are what you eat”? Bad news for someone who really likes spicy foods and spices. Once you reach the menopausal stage you have to go easy on these items or perhaps abstain from them particularly if you are dining outside. These can easily trigger your body temp to heat up. In some cases, even alcohol or hot drinks can easily trigger hot flashes. Red wine, in particular, can discharge epinephrine – one of the known triggers for hot flashes

Dress comfortably
It’s hard to predict when hot flashes will come so a little planning helps a lot. Try to dress in really comfy style like light tank top, Capri pants, loose clothes or those fabrics that can absorb your sweat. Also, pay attention to the event you’re going to. Stressful activities like crucial business presentation or speaking engagements can easily cause hot flashes so try to dress up really comfortably without sacrificing style.

HRT (Hormone replacement therapy)

From a medical standpoint, HRT remains the most effective way to stop hot flashes but there are also known side effects making it the last resort to treat hot flashes. It’s best to consult your family doctor to see if you’re medical history merits such treatment.

Water, water, water
Drink plenty of water every single day particularly if you really want to stop hot flashes. Just like a car, your body also needs a coolant to regulate your body temperature. In the case of menopausal women, their body is like a car on the verge of overheating. Water is extremely important to keep the body working at normal level.

These are just some few things you need to do to stop hot flashes. Just like any medical issues, acknowledging your problem is a big step. Talk to your doctor and let him or help you the best option for you.
