What Is It?

A Famous web browser which now became as a path way to steal your resource now.Hacker started using the hole in IE6 and IE7 browsers,Microsoft on conducting research found that drive by attacks on IE users with an exploit of a critical unpatched vulnerability in Windows' DirectShow, part of DirectX.

Who will Get Affected?

Users running IE6 or IE7 on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are vulnerable to the drive-bys attacks, Microsoft said.

How to over come this?

User can do the following who has the above mentioned operating system with IE6/IE7

  • Mean Time Users can Kill a Process with nameĀ msvidctl.dll and you have to set the "kill bit" in windows registery to 45 if you are not sure on doing this please avoid as it may lead to "reinstall" of operating system.
  • An easier way to set the kill bits is to run a custom downloadable automated tool that Microsoft's crafted. The company offered a similar tool as a workaround for the other diect show bug it acknowledged in late May.
  • Upgrade your browser to IE8.
  • Use the patch Released by microsoft to remove Exploits.
