Going Broke on Advertising your MLM?

How could someone be so stupid as to go broke on advertising? I mean some people go $10 to 20K in debt. How can this happen?

It works like this.

You are taught that you need to invest to grow your business.

So you charge, let's say $1000 on your credit card. And you say to yourself, no problem I'll just pay my card back when I get my business check.

So you get your check and you are reminded by your up-line that if you don't keep your advertising going you will loose momentum. So you take that money and don't pay back your card.

The next month, your check is only $800 so you put a few hundred on your card.

Do you get the idea?

The next month is more of the same. You use your credit card to tap off the difference between your ad budget and your check.

This goes on for a while and you sign up a few people but you are feeling like you are loosing money so you think about quitting. But your up line reminds you about all of the momentum you have and all the money that you already invested, why would you walk away from this now? Give it just 90 more days and watch what happens. You are told that Serious people that really want to grow a business invest. So keep investing.

I was actually told by my up line "Go Big or Go Home!". What I think he meant was that if I wanted to grow fast I needed to invest more and if I didn't invest, then I wasn't serious and I didn't deserve his time.

So now you are in very deep you feel like it would be silly to walk away so you keep going after that dream. Plus, you don't want your up line to think that you are not serious and committed.

So you keep pushing and trying to duplicate until...

At some point a light bulb goes off and you realize that you must

STOP THE INSANITY!

For me, my light bulb was when I lost 4 of my 5 heavy hitters in a two week period. All 4 were 10K to 20K in debt. It was then that I made a decision to make sure no one else that I love get's hurt.

The sad thing is that the up line isn't doing it intentionally. They are just telling you the same lie that was told to them.

I used to ask myself questions like how could I have been so blind? Was I brain washed? Maybe. How could this happen to me?

I choose to believe that God gave me that first experience in MLM so that I could find my passion.

And I did! (smile)

I thank God for this experience. Why? Because it helped me find my passion. My passion is to not only educate people and hopefully prevent them from making the same mistakes that I did, but to also show them the success and fun that is possible in MLM!

I am living proof the MLM works and you Too can find success!

Please hear me when I say, Your lack of success is NOT your fault. Yes, you can grow a business without spending money on advertising. I can show you how.

I appreciate you!

Yes, MLM companies are experts in manipulating people.

Good to see you got out before you lost even more money.

A great book called "Merchants of Deception" by former high ranking Amway distributor Eric Scheibler blows the whistle on the deceptive techniques used by MLM companies, and tells the story of how AMWAY ruined his life.

Hi, Wendy!

I also got involved in MLM about 25 years ago. I also had a bad experience with that company. I did, however, realize that the concept was a good one with the right company. I tried many different ones and today, I am still in MLM and doing very well. The sad thing is that MLM/Network Marketing is NOT the scam people perceive it to be but rather companies that don't have good plans that give it that name. It takes research and knowing what to look for in these opportunities in order to find the right company to suit your needs. I never understood why people work all these factory jobs that screw people over time and time again and when they get tired of it, what do they do? Go get yet another factory job! My point is that there are good and bad companies in every aspect of business. It is up to us to educate ourselves on what we are looking for in order to know if a company is right for us. I know many people who are doing very well in MLM and most of them have learned through trial and error how to look for the right company with the right compensation plan. If people took the time to learn about MLM, what to look for and what to avoid before they joined a company then there would be a much higher success rate as well as more respect for the MLM concept.

Thanks again Bonnie for you comment. You are so right when you say "If people took the time to learn about MLM, what to look for and what to avoid before they joined a company then there would be a much higher success rate as well as more respect for the MLM concept."

That is why it is my passion to help prevent others for getting hurt. If anyone reading this is looking at a business or are struggling in MLM I assure you your lack of success is not your fault.
