I'm not sure why this topic has grabbed a hold of me and will not let go. Maybe it's my upbringing. My parents were hard working, honest people who went about their business with dignity and humility, rarely saying a bad word about anyone.

Today's politics seems to be rife with liars. It galls me to hear a constant barrage of half-truths and outright lies from the conservative Republicans who can't seem to have a good word to say about anything the Democrats do. I'm not pro-anybody. I'm from the "pro-what's-right" party. I also believe that Democrats and republicans are all about the same when it comes down to basic morality. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, period.

My friend and I had breakfast today and came up with a brilliant idea to fix this mess. Sue the bums! You can say anything you want about a bill in congress, but when slurs about people are bandied about like fireworks on the 4th of July, it just has to stop.

Defamation should be easy to prove. For example, the president should only need to produce his birth certificate in court in order to sue Limbaugh, Beck and a half dozen others for defamation. Paying $10 mil a piece every time they lie might make them think twice before opening their mouths.

It might also send a message to their followers to wake up and smell the brownies. You know, the things that come out of conservative talk show hosts... not mouths but lower. They eat these brownies without examining them first. They should be turning them over in their hands and taking a whiff before they eat them. Sometimes a brownie is not a brownie.
