The male hormone is one of the factors why people snore. When air is inhaled and exhaled rapidly, it blocks the pathways which causes the throat's tissues to vibrate and causes the snoring sound. Alcohols and/or alcoholism is another cause of snoring. The male gender hormones tend to be more active and restless than the female's estrogen hormones. Men also have a much narrower air pathways than women which causes males to be more prone to snoring.

Some researchers say that there are things that we can do to control snoring and while others say that we cannot control snoring.

Take precaution when eating wheat. Dairy products contains milk that can effect some people and may cause a allergic reaction.

It is quite hard to calorie count and fat count everything that we eat these days but being vigilant and aware of the amount of food that you eat for each meal is very necessary in helping you to prevent snoring. Women usually use this proportion control self psychology method to help them cut down their meals proportion sizes. Not being able to focus on eating will make you eat more and make you feel like you have just started eating most times. Overeating or eating heavily at night is not a good habit to have because you will be going to sleep soon after eating and your metabolism is at its slowest speed when you are asleep which is likely to trigger snoring since your body is relaxed and comfortable.

 Medicines can help prevent snoring as well, but be careful of what medicines you take, what you eat, and monitor your lifestyle activities that can affect you extremely. If you snore while sleeping anytime of the day, this is known as having a serious or a severe snoring problem.
