Story to Tell
52Lately, I've been hearing about it a lot in the news; how the human spirit manages to overcome adversity. People that have been on the brink of death and the thought of a loved one or loved ones kept them alive. Others have overcome handicaps, they seem to be living such a full life. Much more than you and I it would seem. They're not having a pity party, they're simply enjoying life. Granted it's not always easy, how we handle what comes our way IS completely up to us.
What in our minds is a low point or bump in the road sometimes turns out to be the best thing that could have happened. We would not be who we are today if it weren't for that difficult choice we had to make, that person we had to say goodbye to, or that job we had to let go of out of self-respect. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason, and I'm pretty sure there's always that 'sliding doors' moment when a decision we make completely changes our lives. You definitely come out a stronger person.
But it's not all drama, thank goodness! There are those beautiful, quiet moments that are just heavenly. To me, one of those moments came last Saturday when I was making home-made pizza with my 9 year-old. No television or radio was on, and strangely enough the phone did not ring, not once. Then there are all those birhthdays with cake to be eaten, wedding anniversaries to attend (I'm not jaded despite the fact), the birth of a niece or nephew to celebrate. Do you see where I'm going here? It's the simple pleasures that give life meaning really.
Do not complicate your existence with drama. It can't be said enough, life is too short to be spent on negative, petty issues. Learn to respect and love yourself. As humans I find us completely amazing! Think about it, every human is like a book. Each so unique, each with a story to tell. So, forget Paris and Lindsay! I want to know, what's your story?

Thank you Sukkran! I enjoy reading about the (in my case) faraway places you write about! It's great that people from all over can connect in this forum and in the process learn from each other.
