Woodlyn Park is located only two miles from Waitomo Caves, one of the top attractions in New Zealand. The area includes a wide variety of attractions, ranging from a show covering the complete history of New Zealand's country life to picnics with the ducks.

The Hobbit Motel
The Hobbit Motel has been dubbed one of the world's most unique hotels, as it is built into the side of a low slope with rounded doors. This design is meant to resemble a hobbit hole and, not surprisingly, was inspired by the Lord of the Rings.
Beginning as a working farm, the Hobbit Hotel now houses some of Woodlyn Park's most noted attractions. These include restaurants that serve traditional New Zealand cuisine as well as the famous Billy Black's Kiwi Culture show. People from all over the world now come to experience its rich New Zealand culture. The rooms at the Hobbit Motel are self-contained and accommodate up to six people. In addition, there is a separate bedroom in each unit that contains two bunk beds. A full sized bed sits in the main sitting area and each unit comes equipped with a kitchen, bath, and full shower.
The units are specially decorated and furnished with authentic New Zealand style and are composed of Polystyrene, which acts as an insulator and makes the rooms warm during the winter months and cool in the summer. Rates for Hobbit Motel are reasonable, starting at only $170 for a couple. Each additional person pays only $12.
The Train Motel
As a completely remodeled freighter, the Train Motel of Woodlyn Park is quite likely the only one of its kind in the world. It is structured as one self-contained motel unit and has modern facilities as well as modern interior design and furnishings. Best of all, it offers privacy and relaxation, as it is surrounded by farmland where animals roam and wild flowers grow.
The Train Motel is close to all attractions offered in Woodlyn Park, included Billy Black's Culture Show. Called the "Waitomo Express," the Train Motel units sleep 6 with one full sized bed, two single beds, and a double sized pull out sofa bed. Rates for the Train Motel start at $130 per night for a couple, with each additional person costing $12.
The Plane Motel
A stay at the Plane Motel is sure to be a unique experience. One of the last allied planes during the Vietnam War, this 1950's freighter has been totally remodeled. It contains two separate motel units. One unit is located in the rear of the plane and costs $140 per night per couple. There is a steep ladder leading up to the cockpit unit, which costs $150 per night per couple.
For couple's with children, the Plane Motel will give your children a free pass to the Kiwi house and help with booking any caving adventures, rafting, or biking your family may want to participate in. Each unit in the Plane Motel sleeps 4 people, two in a double bed and two in a bunk bed unit.
The Waitanic
Woodlyn Park now boasts a fourth part tourist attraction part motel, the Waitanic. It was originally constructed as an anti submarine ship during World War II and was one of only twelve such ships. It is one of only a couple that survived the war and has since been broken down into three suites. These include:
- Captains Room: A The Captains room is broken up into three levels. On the first there are two rooms with a main bathroom. Each room as one single sized bed. The second level contains a queen sized bed and a private deck. The top floor has a small bathroom, kitchen and dining areas, and a sitting room with a sofa that pulls out into a double bed. The rate for this room is $200 dollars per double.
- Britannic Room: This room sleeps up to four people, with the top level having a queen sized bed and the lower room having two single beds. Rates for this room are $175 per double.
- Titanic Room: The top floor of the Titanic Room comes complete with a luxurious King sized bed. The lower level has two rooms, each with another small single bed. The price for this room per night is $175 per double.
Woodlyn Park is one of the most unique and culturally rich tourist attractions today, with visitors coming from all over. The rich New Zealand culture and one of kind accommodations will leave guests coming back year after year.
