Stress relief and relaxation are key components of good health. When stress is minimized we sleep better, our immune system works more efficiently to keep us healthy and free from illness, and we look younger longer.

However, stress is normal, and in some respects can actually be a positive aspect of our lives. Leaving home to go to college, falling in love, getting married, expecting a baby, starting a business, vacation travel, and other positive life events are exciting and pleasureable.... but they also cause stress. Positive stress motivates us, excites us, pushes us towards the achievement of our goals and can be the "spice of life". However, when anticipation turns into anxiety, unfamiliarity begins to foster feelings of fear and apprehension, and excitement starts to manifest in the form of tension and migraine headaches we begin to experience the undesireable and negative aspects of of stress.

The good news is that symptoms of stress can be greatly reduced with natural remedies for stress relief. And, an important benefit of using these natural methods to reduce stress is that these natural stress relief remedies cause minimal or no negative side effects.

Natural remedies for stress relief include:

- Herbal teas: Herbal teas with the most stress relieving benefits include: catnip, chamomile, holy basil and passion flower. Holy basil tea is so delicious you can enjoy it as a calorie free beverage served hot or iced anytime.

- Herbal supplements: herb supplements and herbal blends especially beneficial for stress relief include: hops, skullcap and valarian. These natural remedies provide effective relief for a variety of stress related health concerns including stress and tension headaches, nervousness, and sleeplessness.

Homeopathic remedies: these gentle all natural remedies work very effectively to combat stress and restore calm.

- Aromatherapy treatments: Essential oils can be used in a variety of aromatherapy treatments to relieve stress and promote restful sleeep. To help you to fall asleep when you're feeling restless, try rubbing a few drops of lavender essential oil into the soles of your feet immediately before going to bed. Lavender promotes relaxation, and you will enjoy restorative sleep and awaken feeling refreshed.

Excessive stress can cause physical and emotional illness, including high blood pressure, heart disease, skin disorders, digestion issues, depression, anxiety and many other health problems. Managing stress via natural methods can help to prevent and reduce the negative impact of stress on the body to allow us to enjoy better health.

Tea is what I use when I need to relax, I also go to massages.

A friend of mine suggested meditation (his article about his experiences controlling strss could be found here : http://www.siakoi.com/health/stress-killer.html ). But I really do not have the patience for it. Hahha

Good tips. I've been tossing around ideas of how to sleep better thinking that it would help. I'll have to check into the lavender thing.
