Stress and Hair Loss

Radiant, shiny hair along with a healthy scalp is an evidence of active body and emotionally sound mind. In case, you suffer from any kind of imbalance or disproportion it will be revealed through your mind and body. Stress and hair loss are not inter-related. But any kind of emotional turbulence for a long period of time certainly affects the hair.

Anxiety, apprehension and pressure have become a part of our life today. It can’t be ruled out thoroughly. On the contrary, all these things teach us to struggle, more obstacles we face stronger we become. So, it is nothing to worry about.

All we need to do is to understand the relation between stress and hair loss and apply some stress management method that would help our hair to fight back.
There are quite a few things that unite stress and hair loss deeply.  Stress causes hair loss in two ways and they are:

1. Telogen Effluvium:  “Pulling my hair out” goes the famous saying, which means you are extremely anxious or worried regarding something. This is what exactly happens in this condition. Extreme stress causes sudden hair loss. Telogen effluvium occurs because of trauma of any kind or anxiety due to job insecurity, death of near one, divorce or break up. Telogen effluvium may also occur for thyroid conditions, chemotherapy, childbirth, quick weight loss, surgery and a few more things.

2. Alopecia Areata: Alopecia Areata is a reason of hair loss that is more serious and less common than the previous one. Alopecia Areata occurs if a person suffers from depression or undergoes a major stressful period in life. Hair fall in this case mostly occur little late, fall out in patches and refuse to grow back. Hair re-growth in this case is likely.

Now let’s stop talking about problem and start a discussion about solution otherwise it may give us an additional anxiety which may also cause a few hair losses! Jokes apart, if stress is a reason for hair loss then all we need to do first is cut the stress out. If excluding is impossible, we can at least try to trim down.

- Avoid getting worried about small problems because problem can be sorted out. More importantly getting tensed don’t really offer you any kind of solution.

- Sound sleep is as required as physical activity. Never ignore to relax because that’s what a body need essentially after a hectic day.

- A few Medications like Rogaine, Propecia, Nioxin and other restrain the conversion of testosterone to DHT. These are effective remedies to stress and hair loss.

Remember, “A day without laughter is a day wasted”, so, laugh as much as you can because that’s the most powerful thing to protect yourself from stress and hair loss. It works like any medicine or you can say more than any of them. Laughing lifts your heart and gives you additional energy to retaliate.
