Usually stretch marks are something that pregnant women have to deal with, but yes, it’s true that stretch marks in men quite frequently occur.  If you’re reading this chances are you’re a guy who is currently suffering from stretch marks, they’re a condition that effect young and old, men and women indiscriminately.

Now stretch marks in men happen for one of the following reasons:

1.        Growth Spurts

Sometimes when you grow really fast in a short period of time during adolescence, you cause your skin to stretch more than it is able to handle and thus you wind up with stretch marks.

2.        Weight Gain

Another reason for getting them is weight gain.  If you’ve been putting on some excess pounds a little too quickly, you’re likely to get them on your belly at first, or even on your upper legs.

3.        Bodybuilding

Bodybuilders are all about packing on the extra muscle, however that added muscle often times comes a little too fast, too fast for the skin to handle.  The end result is that it stretches and tears, and this can happen under the armpits, behind the knees, on the thighs, the groin, the buttocks, the lower back, essentially everywhere!

Stretch marks in men are thus quite common, so it’s not like your on your own here with a bunch of women.  Now if you’re looking for ways to treat your stretch marks, I’ve got a few options here for you to consider.

1. Massage

One way to prevent stretch marks from popping up in the future is by going in for regular massages. By doing this, you will be able to stretch out the skin before it gets stretched out by excessive weight gain. You are essentially preparing it to be stretched and this preparation can be a good source of prevention.

It may be expensive to go in for regular massages, however if you’re serious about stopping them, this is one option to consider.

2. Drink Water

Stretch marks in men can also be prevented by drinking tons of water. Especially if you’re bodybuilding, you need to be getting at least a gallon, yes, a gallon of water in each day to keep your skin healthy and elastic. If you can do this, you may be able to prevent stretch marks from appearing in the first place.

3. Cocoa Butter

One other thing to try that you can actually use to eliminate stretch marks is cocoa butter. This can be found in many supplement stores, even at Walmart sometimes. Cocoa Butter works at repairing the skin and improving it’s elasticity. A lot of women use this before and during pregnancy to prevent stretch marks and also treat stretch marks for that matter. You can use it as well for the same purpose.

No matter what, keep searching around for solutions to this problem, there are plenty out there and you’re bound to find something that works for you!
