Struggles to Peace
48inner peace...
We struggle to hang onto the old,
The familiar - to life…
Afraid to let go into the unknown
Yet without the struggle, we let go of the strife…
We try to hide our weakness
We question, we yearn
Because we can, we give
And through that we learn
Bearing hardships, lessons, tests
Up down, on the waves of fortune, glory
Who we have become
Tells our story…
It’s not in the objects we acquire
Nor the words we speak
It’s the connection from the depths of our heart
That our loved ones seek
Yet when all is said and done
Through our willingness to grow
Does the inner light inside
From our strength of faith glow
BE - as a page that aches for a word which speaks on a theme that is timeless...
To trust our expanding awareness
The only power love
Is to reach the freedom of knowing
Acceptance of all is the dove…

Thank you so much LMom. Appreciate you stopping by and your comment!
I haven't read this yet. I will in a minute. But, I thought you were on vacation?
The most magnificent flavour of life is to drink from the vine of love!!! I love this, SEM Pro!!! Love is in the air! lol : )
I did not know you were a poet! I am not a big poetry guy but this poem is touching. Well done! I love it!
SEM Pro, that is lovely. It resonates with what I, like most of us are seeking..inner peace, which will reflect outward in our daily lives and hence to all those around us.
Thanks for sharing such beautifully written words. I'm touched.
Jodi - love is indeed in the air - it's spreading as you shed your light :) So glad you "love it" :) thanks for visiting and commenting!
This is a beautifully magical poem. Life and love and truth all mixed into one!
James - Hi! Spontaneous vacation - few days in the glorious Smokies, back home then off for business to Canada, from there to your great reunion - I can hardly wait!
So glad you love it - especially as not a big poetry guy :) Couldn't help but laugh when you said you hadn't read it yet because my hubs are usually 2,000+ words. Finally simply posted a poem from my book that seemed timeless yet timed appropriately for a few of the discussions lately lol (PS have posted other poems but within multiple "pearls". Buried treasures?)
I'm heading off to read your White Summer hub shortly - think you might like the one I posted yesterday honoring my dad. BTW - Happy Father's Day to you!
DynamicS - so glad you came by and you are right. When we accept and allow the peace within to eminate, it does indeed reflect outwardly and hopefully "touch" others. Appreciate you and your comment :)
This is beautiful as well as relatable. Thanks for sharing, Your poetry is great keep it up.

k@ri - aloha :) Perhaps this could offer an answer to your "trust" > trusting yourself through acceptance. James wrote a comment on my hub about "truth" setting us free and it was profound. He said that part of knowing absolute truth is that as humans, we may fall short - adding here because we "try to hide our weakness".
In the movie "Goal" there is a wonderful concept about playing with "flair". He said most people play to their strengths, trying to hide their weaknesses. A person who plays with flair takes risks because they don't know they're risks - they are in control of the ball, not the other way around. In other words, they are not afraid of weakness - it is the fear that will prevent us from acceptance.
But, one does need to get out and not work all the time LOL
Thanks so much dori! Think I wrote about 3 binders worth of poetry as a teenager. Sometimes "less is more" as our imaginations and memories round out the thoughts with poetry. I'm grateful for your comment :)
beautiful words. lovely poem.
Thank you for the Happy father's Day wishes. Now we'll see if my younguns remember . . .
Thank you so much hilltrekker/S :) From such a wonderful poet, that is a huge compliment! More importantly, from a cherished friend, your words are felt deeply with appreciation...
My pleasure James - wrote extensive message on Honoring Dad... Hope the whole day is about you and treating you as the king you are as a father :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Brenda. Reading more of yours is definitely on my agenda! Appreciate you :)
Very positve hub, just what I needed. Thanks.
Thank you for coming by Raven King. So very glad it was able to give you that little bit of reprieve we all need and deserve.
You have encapsulated what is important into a few well chosen words of poetry. Sometimes no elaboration is necessary. Kudos to you! Liked it a bunch!
From such an admirable writer.. and kindred soul - your words offer sanctuary for the dove. Deeply grateful Peggy :)
"Who we have become
Tells our story…"
Really enjoyed the entire poem...line by line. That line was just my favorite. Read it over several times...Great Poem, SEM Pro. You titled it well...as our life lessons lead us to our acceptance of peace...if we learned something along the way...!
A very warm welcome to my own little home of warm tropical breezes ManlyPoetryMan. I am honored by your visit and glad you enjoyed it. You are very rare - I knew that when I read of your heartfelt feelings as a father. Almost rewrote the Empty Nest Syndrome to include you.
Who you have become, tells a wonderful story...
You are way to kind, SEM Pro...Please...I'm just a humble Manly Poetry Man. This poem of yours here on your "little hub home" sparks of life's lessons in great fashion. It 'twas I...the one who was honored that you stopped by to visit my humble hub...
We'll have future visitors rolling their eyes with all these niceties MPM :) Clearly, we share a mutual respect. I look forward to both your future visits, and reading the poetic tales that elegantly describe who you have become. Thank you for being you - glad we connected :)
Likewise...as well.
It just somehow touches the part that was hidden from myself. I almost tear reading this.
Thank you!
In turn, you have touched me deeply metaphysician...
May the blessings be...
Lovely and inspirational poem....Your comment to K@ri is well taken...Do it with flair, elan', fearlessly...Stay in control of the ball ( your life )...
And I agree with manlypoetryman, the part about who we have become tells our story...Brilliant....Thank you, Larry
What a warm and welcoming comment Larry - thank you. If ever I have seen flair in action, your remarks display the ultimate synopsis of it beautifully.
I tremendously look forward to reading the stories of who you have become as well!
