With so many student loan sites out there claiming to offer the absolute best student loans at the best interest rates how do you know where to start and how can you tell who’s actually trustworthy?

The bottom line is when it comes to dealing with these companies you can have to be careful and really research the companies in order to avoid scams and false offers.

The very first thing you want to do when checking out student loan sites is to start out by checking each site’s credibility. You can start by going to the Online Better Business Bureau and doing a little research on each site.

Check to see if the site is indeed legitimate, if are they registered with the BBB, and if there have been any complaints launched against the company. Next do a Google search on the site just to see if it turns up any positive or negative information on the site. It’s a good idea to see how people feel about a company before doing business with them.

Additionally, when you’re doing your research on student loan sites, thoroughly go through each site and check out how much information they actually offer. If the site only has a few pages, that’s probably a sign that they haven’t been in business long or don’t have a strong online presence.

You can tell a lot just from a company’s site. Look at the variety of student loan options. Check how much general information they provide you about student loans. Do they have a frequently asked questions page?

Once you begin to really dig you will be able to find out if a student loan site is really legitimate or if it’s a site that you might want to avoid.  Keep in mind that we are not talking about sites providing just articles and information but sites that are requesting your personal information to help process student loan information.
