Writing and especially writing hubpages is definitely fun and very addictive.

It allows free rein to your feelings, viewpoints, knowledge and whatever you want to write about and it's so easy to add pictures and videos to make your scribblings more interesting.

When I was a student, I would volunteer for anything that was enjoyable and free and I don't expect things have changed much since then.

When you eventually get a job you will find out things like there's no such thing as a free lunch and if it seems too good to be true it probably is. Also anything that's given away is probably a marketing ploy to get money out of you at some point in the near future. If marketing is your thing then you will no doubt be using some of these tactics yourself.

...but this really is honest, no strings attached free and fun.

You're a student and you're probably learning stuff that most of us can't even spell!

Would you like to share some of that? Would you like to try teaching some of it to others?

Maybe by explaining it to others it will magically become better impressed into your own mind. You will understand it more fully by sharing it with others. It's good experience whether or not you intend teaching and presentation skills are always a marketable asset.

It's good to talk. Sometimes it's better to write.

Get your thoughts down in your own scribblings and share them with others.

Not too many restrictions on what you write about so get some practise writing about things that you wouldn't normally write about - your thoughts, your feelings if you like, write poetry if you want, practise copywriting skills if marketing's your thing. Write about what things mean to you. After you finish reading this why not have a browse around here and see the many different topics that people find to write about.

If you want to write and be read by others then this is the place for you because here you will be read by fellow authors, and I use the term very loosely.

You will build up a fan club of people interested in your topics or your style of writing and you will join other writers' fan clubs.

You will get feedback on your writing which will be positive and encouraging because everyone else is developing their skills in the same way that you will be.

Ok this may or not be the absolute truth, but when I told you about a ready made audience of fellow writers, that was only half the truth, because when Google comes a calling on hubpages then chances are it will pick up your article and show it to the world.

Under the encouraging eye of fellow hubbers, you can experiment with your writing style, your presentation skills, do you want to be funny, serious, angry, academic, sexy, informative, entertaining, persuasive or just plain loco?

Here you will make friends with other people from all over the globe and all age groups, so don't mistake this for a student hang out, or another facebook. You will be meeting with fellow writers from many places, all ages, many walks of life, many religions (and confirmed atheists - if confirmed is the right word). Many reasons for being here, and there will be arguments as in any family.

When I told you hubpages was free, well that was another half truth.

You can even make money writing hubpages! Some of the more experienced hubbers are making some cool earnings here and if you study them and ask them they will always be willing to share - advice, not their money! - on the active forum that we have here. So any issues, there will always be fellow hubbers to help out and after a few weeks you could be the one giving out pointers.

Let's face it, you're a student, so you have above average intelligence.

You were brought up with computers and presentation skills are already a part of many curriculums (see I bet you know the plural of curriculum).

You're already more than half way there. This will be a breeze for you and the bit you don't know, you'll pick up easily.

Don't get distracted. You've got nothing to lose and a whole lot of fun to gain.
