Study: Gorgeous girls are happier with plain guys

The Tennessee university researchers wanted to find what makes couples tick when the wife is more attractive than the husband and studied 82 newly wed couples and found some interesting results.
The researchers tested the couples for facial attractiveness and the quality of their marriage. The results showed that most men who married attractive women were happy to bask in the glory of their partner’s beauty. They also found that men who saw themselves more attractive than their wives were more likely to become unhappy and have negative feelings about their marriage. Professor Jim McNulty, one of the lead members of this study said in the report:"Men who were more attractive than their partner demonstrated a tendency to offer less emotional and practical support to their wives…Attractive men have available to them more short-term mating opportunities…This may make them less satisfied and less committed to the marital relationship."
The results of the study are reported in the Journal of Family Psychology. Strathclyde University psychologist Alastair Ross told Daily Mail that many men enjoyed the privilege of having a beautiful wife near their side. And those who had an attractive wife were considered to be more likeable and friendly to their peers. Other factors also might come into play besides the beauty factor such as character, respect, sincere and others in my opinion. Do you agree with this study?

It surprises me. You'd think the guys would feel a little insecure with a beautiful woman if they were not so good looking. In case they tended to stray. Although that of course works both ways thats for sure

I think beautiful woman, like other women, are looking for a particular type that will treat them with respect and be nice... looks then cease to be critical... of course for the woman there is a kind of statement...I could pick anybody but I'm not picking you...(or your type)
...ironically then the partner selection really empowers the woman and people go ... whooaaa cool... of course then the less than perfect guy feels like a star and has these other women on the periphery wondering what has he got that is so valuable... this is a win win situation.... and a delightful place to be.... it should almost be mandatory.... :-)

Thanks Crazycat, probably they show more love to their partners than others, that might be the reason the girls might like them more.
women usually are attracted to personality, charisma, character and other things besides physical appearance. i think all women think good looks are a bonus but their original attraction springs from a feeling they get off of someone and not their looks. men, biologically are more attracted to physical appearance.
