Studying The Bible - New ways for a modern world

Man's Quest to find answers
Since the beginning man has had this quest to figure out where he comes from and how life is unfolding around him (or her). We yearn to know more about our world and its inner workings both psychologically and physically. Most of our modern conveniences were actually built by modeling the going on's of nature.
Many of the psychological understandings of our world come from the "Good Book" itself. The bible is both a record of what happened several thousand years ago till today and a powerful book of answers past present and future.
The Bible captures the lessons of life in intricate detail but what makes the bible so powerful is not what it says but what it means. The events in the bible are not where the power of the good word lies. The power is in the ever repeating things that happen in life being understood.
The Ten Commandments of a happy, prosperous life
The Ten Commandments
The stories in the bible are designed to teach us how life works and how to be happy. Everything that happens in life is motivated towards this end, but the subconscious end we all strive for is spiritual growth.
If I were to write the biblical table of contents I'd have to divide the whole bible into ten chapters. The Ten Commandments.
The beauty of the Ten Commandments is that they are the consolidation of the bible in ten short commandments! They pack the power of the entire bible into those ten "laws of happiness and prosperity". If you follow the Ten Commandments always you will be happy, you will prosper, and you will contribute to the world in a great way.
The bible is essentially expanding on those Ten Commandments complete with examples and inspirational stories detailing everything we have and ever will go through in a subtext of lessons that we can only truly see when we connect the bible together and synergize its teachings and principals.
When we truly understand the lessons of the bible we more easily will follow its teachings and will find illumination.
The blind cannot see the deaf cannot not hear.. But both have other resources to do both!
The problem is that most people are not reading this book, the oldest book with the most wisdom ever conceived. Many that do read it are not understanding that the story's are not literal, although they most likely happened that way the lessons are deeper than the literal interpretations.
Much like our dreams are not literal in their meanings, they are symbolic. The mind puts together dreams from it's knowledge base of symbology, your particular comprehensions, and the dream is your mind trying to work out the things you need to know, solve the problems you have, and show you through powerful symbolism, the answers.
No dream book can tell you what YOUR dreams mean, only a dream book you make yourself- But this is another hub all together. My point is that the bible like dreams is not about what happened but what it means.
It reminds me of the story I heard in church ironically where the man is in the middle of a huge flood that has everything covered in water and he's perched on the top of the church's cross.
The church is under water other than the top of the cross. The man starts praying to god to help him and with all the faith in his heart he believes that god will save him. The problem is that he has the wrong idea of how god would do this, expecting wizardry or some magic looking miracle. He expects god to do everything himself without the man doing anything.. and this is not how it all works, not even in the bible.
Directly after his request to be saved a man rows by in a boat and offers to take him to safety and the man still perched on the cross refuses, stating that god will save him. Again he prays for gods help and directly after a helicopter arrives on the scene telling him to grab the ladder and they would take him to safety. Again he tells them No God will save me. The guy eventually drowns because he can't swim and the waters overwhelmed him.
He stands before god angry and asking god why he let him die. God replies with a chuckle.. "My son, I sent a boat and a helicopter.. And you refused, so it wasn't me that let you die.. It was you!"
This is the best metaphor for how people are not reading the bible correctly and are not absorbing the real lessons in it. I think a lot of it comes from misinterpretation and difficulty relating to the stories of an entirely different era before everything we now understand. The bible needs to be written in a way that uses our current understandings and concepts to get the same point across. This is being done in movies and stories actually. To understand anything you have to be able to relate to the mindset, even for metaphors.
The most incredible book ever written
The bible is the most powerful set of lessons ever written down. Unfortunately most people have a hard time comprehending the lessons because they need it to be translated. Even the King James Version of the bible needs translation for many.
These days their are tools that do just that. Many movies have been made in fact to bring the lessons in the bible to life in a very modern way. The power in this book is that everything that has is and ever will be is in there. This book contains the basic code of life past present and future. All of this has happened before and it will happen again, life repeats itself, and things like this come from understandings found in the bible.
Like the letters of the alphabet can be combined to generate everything else you could ever want to communicate into words, written or spoken-
The bible is like the letters of our alphabet, each chapter, each verse being its own syllable. This alphabet is not as limited as our alphabet however and it could take your entire life to truly grasp the concepts completely. The lessons in the bible trump even our quantum binary concepts in power and ability to generate anything the human mind can conceive.
Once aware of the lessons it's mind bogglingly simple to grasp. Awareness is contagious. When one person becomes aware they offer their own unique teaching method to show others how they understand it.
The true power in teaching the lessons of the bible to others is that each of us has a unique comprehension and ability to show others their views. This is both a gift and can be a curse as well.
For example if someone is way off base they will fight to preserve or to in some cases force others to understand it their way. Opposite interpretations can lead to misunderstandings and in many ways this has lead to wars.
The answers to all of these problems is awareness. The bible is universal and if people study it correctly they will come to the truth on their own, in their own way. It helps to have guidance and others to show them the way however, which is how the bible was designed. So that others would help one another understand the word of god.
