Boot Cream, I Mean Ice Cream Maker

Fun Ice Cream Maker

Now who would have thought to make ice cream by having kids BOOT the ice cream maker around?

I was looking around for gifts (Christmas is SO around the corner, eh?) and I found this marvelous ice cream maker that just beats all the others that I have been looking at.

I cancelled on ordering this baby

Oh Please, SEARS, don't try to compete

I had browsed around the Sears online store before I ran into the little 'Stuff Kids Like" unit and had already picked out an Ice Cream Maker that I thought was pretty cool, nicely priced and about right for my needs. I had to interrupt my Sears online order, of course, because it just wouldn't have been right to continue...not when an obviously better ice cream machine model was staring me in the face...I am so glad that I multi-task and shop online with at least 8 browser windows open at a time or else I COULD HAVE ended up with a boring ice cream maker model with simply NO character or creative streak at all, darnit!

Personally, I have decided that ICE CREAM is an important LUXURY that all Western Canadians ought NOT to be without! I decide this in the month of December, naturally, whilst the weather is below 20 Celsius because, well, I'm a Canadian...

...and just because I'm Canadian, where the winters are cold, this doesn't mean that I should discriminate negatively about ice cream, now, does it? After all, ice cream has never done any harm to me! Ice cream has always been good to me - even that time that I froze my bottom lip onto a creamsicle because I choose to suck on it instead of checking with a 'test lick' before committing to a possible lip-ripper tactic...that was MY fault...not the fault of the creamsicle.

I was about 10.

Anyhow, now that I have established the importance of ice cream and also the importance of ice cream even in countries whereby the winters are BRUTAL, I have to say that the anticipation of booting my new ice cream maker around once it arrives has me a bit obsessed.

Who would have thought to make ice cream by having kids BOOT the ice cream maker around?

Oh yes...one small detail that might interrupt this whole idea...but not for long...

I don't have kids at home anymore.

Problem easily solved:

I will hire some neighborhood children to help me boot the ice cream maker around....

THUS...

Creating public awareness about the importance of ice cream!

How great is this?

Had To Cancel On This Order, Too

The Ice Cream Maker Unit Above

Okay, so this was my first choice.

Naturally, Ice Cream for Western Canadians ought to be about the aesthetic value of the ICE CREAM MAKER, I figured...

Now this means - it's about NOSTALGIA, folks - even though I am too young to have ever seen one of these style ice cream makers in action...

(by the time I came along, the ice cream machine was the box on the front of the dickie dee bike - woot! That was 'machine' enough for me when I was 5 years old)...

BUT I HEARD ABOUT the style of ice cream maker above. My 'elders' told me about the carnivals and fairs they went to when THEY were young, and I saw pictures of these, so naturally, I wanted to select a machine for myself that would convey my interest in upholding a nostalgia that I had only heard about and seen in pictures...

(Can't blame me for trying to explain this away, can you?)

Okay, okay - so the truth is...I just wanted the machine that LOOKED MOST FUN, okay?

In The End

In the end, I had to decide what is more important...

Buying from Sears, so that if I don't like the machine, I know where my local Sears store is and can return the item?

Buying the old-fashioned style ice cream maker so that I can say to my friends "neener, neener, I have an old fashioned style ice cream maker - why are YOU STILL digging fudgsicles out of the freezer box, eh? Well? Eh?"

Or...

Purchasing the coolest ice cream model so that I can invite the neighborhood kids over for a soccer game in the middle of WINTER, SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT by using an ice-cream model that works on HUMAN KID KICKING POWER, and ending up with potential neighborhood 'little buddies' who might come over and shovel my walk the next time it snows?

As you can tell...the choice is SO OBVIOUS, eh?

I'd go with the ball, but take it to your campus and get some of the students there to kick it around. Of course you might only be able to do that once. Wonderful hub Teeray, but you made me feel old! I'd forgotten some of those old style Icecream makers existed.
