Tales Of The Successful Blogger

If you have a blog, or you want one, there are certain characteristics of a succesful blogger that you should know. This goes not only for blogging, but for any successful internet business. To generate huge traffic - targeted traffic - you need to have these qualities.....

1. The succesful blogger is a hard worker. You need to be constantly updating your blog with good content. Don't just fill it up every other day with drivel. You need to do some research and you need to do some writing. For some, that sounds pretty daunting, but trust me, the more you do it, the better you get. Soon, you'll be writing articles off the top of your head, after all, you are serious about the success of your business right? Then you should have already done lots of reading and research about various topics. Even better, blog about something you are an authority on already...much easier.

2. The successful blogger is resourceful. It is crucial that your blog content be captivating, useful and interesting to your viewers. So, you have to think of ways to make your blog unique and appealing. You must think about the needs of your target audience and put yourself in their shoes.

3. The successful blogger seeks all ways to monetize their blog. There's lots of ways to do this, sell your own product, sell someone elses in an affiliate program and you can sell some of your space for advertising...enter Google Adsense. One thing though, Adsense works great, but only if you're getting traffic!

4. The successful blogger is always looking for ways to generate traffic. You can exchange links - very effective - especially if your incoming link source already has a high popularity rank, this in turn will increase your traffic and your website ranking...nice.

5. The successful blogger never gives up! I cannot stress this enough. Nobody gets rich overnight, it takes time and effort to generate high traffic volumes, and start making big profits. Those that understand this and persist, are the successful bloggers.

Website Fitness 101

With the click of a button, you can do a lot. Times have changed and things move much faster now. In this age of instant messaging and one-hour anything, people have become a little less patient, nobody wants to wait anymore. So, the same could be said about internet surfing. How does your website measure up? Some web developers will argue that with broadband access, page download times should no longer be a problem, but what if I told you that only 3 in 10 people in the US have high-speed internet access? The point is, some webpages are heavily burdened with unnecessary baggage and they will inevitably lose the precious race to grab the users attention if their pages don't download in a decent amount of time.

Some strategies to keep your website quick and agile:

1. Use Simpler Graphics. Using text and graphics in .jpg .gif or .png formats look great, but do take longer to load. I'm not saying don't use them at all, just use less if you're finding your page takes too long to load. You can also specify the width and height of your images so your browser can map your page layout whilst it loads. I could go deeper into using thumbnails and software to cut up and edit your images into smaller pieces, but let's just keep it simple for now.

2. Limit Use Of Flash Intros. I agree they look great, but they do take the most time to load. You could stand to lose a lot of visitors while waiting at your front door if they have to wait too long to even just view your site. If you do use a flash introduction, be sure to include a "skip" button for those who lack patience, like me. Interesting research I've done showed that search engines are unable to index the content of your flash intro, so you are losing potential visits with the loss of hits from search engines.

3. Keep Your Pages Simple and Shallow.
Who really wants to click four different links to get to the info they are looking for? Not me. In managing your homepage, make sure all other content is reachable within two clicks...call it 2 levels deep. Should your site become filled with content - interesting and unique I hope - you may want to consider an archive page to put some of the dated material so it can be referenced, but doesn't bog down your more current content.

Show your visitors that you value their time by having a quick-loading page, they will do the same and spend more time on your website. Demonstrate that you can be efficient and still provide substantial content. Consider what is most important and relevant as opposed to blinding them with aesthetics that offer little in the way of good informative content. In doing this, you will have a lean, mean and more importantly, usable website that will please your target audience, and that is the bottom line.

Viral Marketing Techniques To Increase Web Traffic

An excellent internet marketing tool is viral marketing. Named so, because of it's ability of being passed from one person to another. Ignore the negative undertones of being a virus of any sort, it's merely a way of spreading the word, your word, and bring lots of visitors to your site.

Sending free email courses to target clients is one simple viral technique. In having a good product, the original target may pass it on to someone else, and so on until it creates a multiplier effect. Creating a link in your email signature is a great way to increase traffic as well, not to mention simple!

Affiliate programs are another viral technique. Here, you allow users to refer prospects to your site, and sharing a percentage of profits with them. I like this one because other people end up doing the hard part for you. You do have to share your profits, but you did very little work to earn it.

Article marketing is one of the best ways to increase your website traffic. In this way, many many articles of varying topics are created and redistributed for use in other webpages, but always with a link to your main website.

Remember, having a good website is just a start. you need to take advantage of different tools, such as email and article marketing to drive more people to your site. These methods do not cost much, but do require some creativity and persistence. Also, these are just a few of the many methods I will be going over in the near future, so stay tuned!
