Results Between Mice May Vary - My Attempt at Humor

For all of you follically-challenged folks out there (like myself) who missed what I saw in the news a week or so ago (this hub was written on 2/8/2008), researchers at the University of Pennsylvania stumbled upon a discovery while trying to regenerate skin with the use of stem cells (you can read more about this at: Today Show Archives - A Cure for Baldness?). While doing this, they had used a now secret concoction (apparently a company who saw a huge opportunity with this, bought the rights to the science behind this discovery) with the stem cells which actually regenerated hair growth on adult mice. This is, at least as far as I've read and heard about, the first real potential overall cure for baldness. They say that in as little as 3 years, this treatment may be available for humans on the consumer market (they're not specific as to how this will be presented to consumers).

Now, this is incredibly exciting to me personally. I started losing my hair about 15 years ago, and have fought it vigorously with Rogaine, a Laser comb and Toppik hair building fibers. I don't like my skull shape, frankly, so I've never been comfortable with just letting it go. I love Toppik because it really does give you a thicker, fuller look almost instantaneously after applying it (you shake the can over your problem areas, and tiny fibers cling to your hair to give it a fuller look). I'd recommend this highly to folks who still have a bit of hair, and want a fuller look.

So, keep your eyes and ears open, my follically-challenged friends. There seems to be a bit of hope on the horizon.
