Strawberries, raspberries and other berries are considered summer fruits because it is during the summer when they come into season and are ready for picking from the fruit orchards. Other summer fruits are peaches, pears, apples and cherries. There is nothing better than fresh fruit.

When I was growing up in Ontario, Canada, there were lots of apple orchards and pear trees. Strawberries and raspberries grew wild. I now live in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada and we are lucky enough to have fruit trees growing in hundreds of orchards all up and down the roadways. I think the tastiest fruit that comes out of the Okanagan is cherries. I love fresh cherries. They are so good and so sweet.

Last year, I made a cherry cheesecake from scratch and it was so good. I am thinking of doing the same this year too. I love cheesecakes. My favourite is chocolate but I'd take a slice of cherry cheesecake any day.
