It’s no longer about summer glasses have become the norm whether outdoors or indoors. We will reserve comment about that trend, but glares have become a must have accessory. However, you don’t want to become a fashion victim and pick up anything that is the flavour of the season. Here are few tips to help you decide on shades that suit you, based on the shape of your face. Because fads are about everyone, style is about you as an individual!!!

But this is in….

Big is beautiful and oversized bumblebee glares are back in vogue. Think classic Audery Hepbum style or closer home. Bling too is big right now with Swarovski studded frames and discrete rhinestone patterns on glasses that can transform the simple girl-next door to a super-star. For frames, the colours are red hot and gold, toned down with subtle tints in blue and brown. But just because big is in doesn’t mean this look will suit everyone. Read on because got something for everyone and every face.

Round Face

So, you have been gifted with the classic round face, that doesn’t automatically imply that round glasses will suit you. If any thing, stay away from them.

Rule number 1: Steer clear of frames that exactly match your face-cut. Opt for smaller sleeker sunglasses in square or other angular shapes because this will add length to your face and will also make it look leaner. Make sure the shades come minus chunky side shields; go instead with thin side frames.

Oval Face

Here is shape that allows for a few more options. Again stay away from rounded shapes. Instead go with angles. Big. Bold frames can flatter you and add a much-needed fullness to the central portion of your face. Once again keep the rims and side shields sleek but feel free to jazz things up just a bit with bling

Heart – Shaped Face

If you have got an endearing heart-shaped face much like Jennifer Anniston’s, show it off with a classic round, oval or square shaped frame. But super sized is not flattering on you. So no bumble bees for you either. As far as side-ris go, keep it thin and sleek.

Square Face

Few things add to a feminine face like a strong squred jaw-line. And rounded and oval frames are totally for you. Whereas all frames angular are a complete no-no. When it comes to side shields you have a large range to pick from sleek or chunky wrap-around, either way you can carry it off.

Men’s eyewear

While the same rules based on face shape apply for men’s, you definitely won’t be seen sporting the bumblebee. For a macho look go with the classic aviator style sunglasses. Opt for a metal rim in gold and if that’s too much colour for you, try a rimless look instead. Also try sporting tinted glasses in solid black, blue or brown. If you would like to jazz it up, allow yourself some bling but keep it simple, subtle and very discrete (probably limited to a logo), or macho might turn into the wrong look.

Some useful tips

  • When choosing sunglasses, always check for glasses that at least 99 percentage UV protection.
  • Just because you have a dark coloured tint, it doesn’t imply you have greater protection from UV rays. In fact, tints have nothing to do with UV protection.
  • While the sun’s rays may feel less intense in winter, they are still strong enough to cause eye damage. Come rain or shine, don’t leave home without your shades.

A nice tortoise shell look is classic. Black is more on the sporty side.
