THE BEGINNING

Super Mario Bros.

A Platform game first introduced in the United states in late 1985. This game was a sequel to a 1983 game released in japan called Mario Bros. The Main character Mario's quest in super mario bros is to rescue the mushroom kingdoms princess toadstool (or later known as princess peach) from the evil King of the Koopas, Bowser. Luigi, Marios younger brother is also a playable character in the multiplayer mode, though luigi has the same quest to rescue the princess.
The side scrolling gameplay of Super Mario Bros. and precise controls made the game an instant hit. Other video games of this time followed the same style.

Super Mario Bros. is the second best selling video game of all time. It has sold over 40.24 million copies world-wide and is still circulating in the used game market today.  It is also available for download on the Wii virtual console.  The Nintendo entertainment systems(NES) initial sucess was contributed to by the Super Mario Bros. video game. And a 2 year slump in the gaming industry was ended following the video game crash of 1983.
