Are you considering surgery to remove stretch marks?  If so you must have a particularly bad case of it.  It can really suck can’t it, it totally drains you of your self confidence and makes you feel self-conscious and insecure.  The worst thing is, it can happen at times in your life when you should be happy, like when brining a new child into this world, losing weight, or putting on weight (muscle mass that is for the guys).

Anyways, I feel it is an obligation for me to say you should first look for simpler solutions online such as creams and lotions, there are plenty out there are they are much less invasive treatment options that should be considered before going under the knife or dishing out some serious coin.

If however you are set on surgery to remove stretch marks, this article will provide you with a bit of an overview so you know what to expect and whether or not this is something you want to have done or not.

Option #1: Blue Light Therapy

If you’re considering surgery to remove stretch marks, one that you may want to look into first is Blue Light Therapy.  This is normally used to eliminate tattoos or get rid of spider veins and rosacea, however a few people use it as a treatment for stretch marks.

What happens is a conductive gel is placed on the area and then a hand held device is held up against the skin. The area is then “zapped” with a blue light that works to eliminate pigment in that area and in the case of stretch marks, reduce their appearance.

Option #2: Chemical Peels

If you’re considering surgery to remove stretch marks, it’s best to consider the least invasive of the bunch first. Chemical peels are not quite so bad so they may be something to look into first. A chemical peel simply involves applying various chemicals to the face in order to remove the first layer of skin. When this is done, the first layer basically peels off, removing a fresher, pink skin beneath. It almost looks as though you’ve been sunburned when you have this done.

Option #3: Cut It Out

Ok, if you’re looking into surgery to remove stretch marks, this is something you would want to consider dead last as it is very invasive. This is something that is considered only by those who have a very severe case of stretch marks and usually lose skin as well right after a pregnancy. What happens is a tummy tuck is basically performed where the offending skin is excised and you are stitched back up. You are left with a long scar that runs along your panty line, so you are basically trading a set of scars for 1 simple scar.

If you are feeling less likely to go for any of these options, you can still try out a variety of creams over the counter or by searching the Internet, surgery is not something you want to jump into.
