Survive Unemployment
65Unemployment Is A Reality In These Uncertain Times
Everyone in the United States knows that our country is in a huge recession right now. If unemployment has not hit you personally, know that it can at any time. I speak from personal experience. The main question is not if but when unemployment hits, how will you survive unemployment? The answer is to prepare for it ahead of time.
In September of 2008, I found myself unemployed due to the recession. At that time, my husband was working in Afghanistan as a civilian contractor, making 6 figures so I enrolled in an online medical transcription course and began classes. I was not at all worried. Then in November of 2008, my husband's contract ended and he came home. We had no jobs and only some income. Income? How, you ask? Thus begins my story.

How To Survive Unemployment
We were able to survive 6 months of unemployment for me and 10 months of unemployment for my husband who just started a job 3 weeks ago because we had started building websites using SBI more than 2 years prior.
Back in the summer of 2006, I became to look for a way to make money while working at home so I could be at home with my kids. I found some information in a book about SBI, aka Site Build It. Up to that point, I used the internet for e-mail to communicate with my husband who was working in the Middle East as a civilian contractor and for online banking. That was about it. Anyway, this book talked about building websites and how easy it was to build them using SBI. The author said that building websites about subjects that interested you was a great way to earn extra cash.
So I went online and began to do research on building websites with Site Build It. I could find nothing negative about this company. I went to the Site Build It website and read about how people earned money by using SBI to build sites and how SBI actually changed their lives. That is what I wanted and needed. Little did I dream then that less than 3 years later, my SBI sites would help our family as we struggled through unemployment and job searches.
So I started my first SBI site and it grew, slowly at first. A few months later, I began to make some money with Google Adsense. Nine months later, I started a second site and then a third. I convinced my husband to start a site about his adventures in Iraq. Our income from the sites began to increase so we were able to build a decent savings account from our earnings.
We continued to build our sites by writing new pages using the keywords that Site Build It supplies. More and more visitors came to our sites.
We added Chitika ads and Infolinks ads to increase our profits. We also added Amazon book ads and DVD ads to our pages for additional earnings.
We advertised SBI on our sites. SBI gives their affiliates $75 each time a website is sold so we sold some SBI sites as well. SBI pays their affiliates extremely well compared to other affiliate programs. Because we believe in the product, it is so easy for us to recommend SBI to others. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It is an online business that you can grow over time. No promises of becoming a millionaire in a few weeks or months because that is not going to happen.
However, if you start building your site now based on a subject that you enjoy and that you are knowledgeable about, you can begin earning money and if and when you lose your job, you can weather the storm of unemployment, just like my husband and I did. We were able to keep up with most of our bills and buy food for our family during our unemployment because of the income from our websites.
It was incredibly comforting not to have to worry about where our next meal would come from while we looked for work. You, too, can survive unemployment when it hits if you start building a website now about something you love, something that you will enjoy writing about each day. Work hard in the beginning so you can start earning money as soon as possible to sock away for a rainy day.
Now my husband and I have full time jobs again so we are rebuilding our emergency fund. We spend a few hours each week on each of our sites, building new pages and the money continues to come in. We are now saving for a new car. Yes, we are going to buy a new car with CASH this time instead of going into debt and paying a ton of interest. The cash will come from our earnings from our websites. We have already started our car fund.
Eventually as our income increases, we hope to quit our jobs and get all of our income from our websites. Thank you SBI and Dr. Ken Evoy for making our online business possible!
