If you're thinking that it is almost automatic and the average person will be able to survive Marine boot camp, I have some news for you Surviving Marine boot camp takes a lot of concentration and effort on your part. It's not something that you can just breeze through by reading some brochure that you received showing pictures of what it's like at boot camp. It will be a life-changing experience that you will appreciate it for the rest of your life.

Here's a question that you will hear numerous times, "Someone told me that in order to survive boot camp you have to take control from day one by showing your comrades just how aggressive you can be by beating up one of the weaker recruits."

This type of attitude will not you get you very far in Marine boot camp. The drill sergeants will drill it into your head that you are worthless and that you are not an individual any longer. If you try to show your sense of individuality by being super aggressive and picking on some of the other recruits, you were totally lose the respect of others. I'm not saying that you have to act timid and just try to coast through boot camp by not making any noise or getting yourself noticed at all.

There will be times to show your aggressiveness, and there will be times to show your timid side. You will be told when to do this. you will be instructed as to what attitude you should be taking at a particular time during a certain situation and your job is to listen and to take commands and that is that. the only benefit that I actually can see is that you will be the star cast in a blanket party. I'm not going to give it a gory details of what is involved in the blanket party but it does involve a series of combat boots and one blanket if you get the drift.

Question number two: Can the average person actually survive boot camp ?

The average person can learn how to get ready for marine boot camp and to even learn how to survive boot camp, although it will take a lot of effort and a lot of concentration to do so. One thing is for sure, once you have finished Marine boot camp, you will no longer be an average person. You'll be better than average. You have to be willing to work your behind off while at the same time absorbing all the information that is given to you. Try to remain humble and continue pushing yourself forward no matter what happens at boot camp. Remain focused and concentrate at all times at a level that you wouldn't have ever been able to have accomplished before. Boot camp using takes as long as 13 weeks to complete. It will seem even longer if you do not have the right mindset to accomplish what you are told to accomplish. Start off with the right mindset from day one and you will survive boot camp.

I suggest that if you are ready to take on the task of surviving Marine boot camp no matter what, that you educate yourself as well as you possibly can before hand. This can be done by following the steps that are contained in the following online guide: preparing yourself for boot camp the guide

Furthermore, another great source of information that will give you an insider's view of exactly what takes place at Parris Island during Marine boot camp is by viewing videos that are readily available online. To view a great package of such videos, I recommend that you visit the following boot camp website: free video package on getting through Marine boot camp

Good stuff. The right mind set is always necessary to suceed. As a military guy and it sounds like a Marine you might find these two hubs of interest.

http://hubpages.com/hub/Whats-a-Marine Which discusses both my uncle a 3 war marine, who was a Sgt Major and a question my neighbor asked me.

The other hub of interest may be http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Most-Precious-Gift

This one discusses my other five uncles who were in the army and navy and what they and all veterans sacrifice whether they were put in harms way or served a support mission.

I hope you read them and if you are a Marine you may want to pay interest to the comments left by other Marines, some are pretty deep.
