Surviving the Bad Times With the Help of God
56The Christian life is a continual series of highs and lows. It seems that the lows are more frequent and last longer than the highs. Many of us have been through lows that we thought would never end. There are lessons to be learned during the bad times. God has given us a path through the bad times in the Bible. Bad times are a result of two things. One is our own sin and poor choices. We bring many of our bad times on ourselves. The Bible has many stories of bad things happening because of sin in the lives of those enduring the bad times. The second type of bad times are caused by things beyond our control. The biblical accounts of Joseph and Daniel are examples. Whatever the reason for your bad times, there is a biblical path through them.
You should always be expecting bad times to come. They always do. We have all faced many of them and have many more in our future. There is no promise of God to spare Christians from bad times on earth. Instead the Bible says “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” Psalm 46:1. Be prepared for the bad times and don’t get discouraged. We must endure the storms of life. When the bad times come we can’t give up. We must resolve to survive and have faith in God. Remember the prayer of Christ in the garden of Gethsemane. “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39KJV. You can not run from your troubles but you can face them with the help of God.
Christians do not have to go through their difficulties alone. We have a God that is above all others. There is nothing that can happen to us that is out of his control. When you accept the fact that God is in control of everything, your troubles will be easier to bare. “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:5-6KJV. Learn to trust in god during the bad times. We may not always understand the outcome of our troubles. I believe that God will bring us through our troubles his way. Remember that as a Christian we belong to God. There is not one thing that can happen to you without the approval of God.
The bad times in our lives help reveal the greatness of our God. How you handle bad times can have an impact on people you may never know. It is obvious when someone is handling their troubles with the help of God. That impacts the lives of those around us. We also can use the bad times to grow in faith and trust of God. If you can learn to trust God in the bad times you will trust him all the time. Don’t despair wherever, you are in life. Our God is the God. We belong to him and he will take care of us. If you know him, trust him. If you don’t know him, get to know him. It will be the best move you have ever made.
