Susan Boyle Follows Her Dream and So Can You
66Susan Boyle's "Cheeky Grin"
Susan Boyle Overcame Adversity
Susan Boyle has certainly caught my attention. It is Saturday night, and I am wishing I could watch episode 2 of Britain's Got Talent live! Why, because as I have reviewed last weeks' video of Susan's performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" over and over again. I was mesmerized. The semi final contest at the end of May will be watched world wide.
Here is an amazing woman who through thirty one years, since the age of twelve sang her heart out. Her family and local community were well aware of her talent. Yet, her first real opportunity for validation and affirmation of profound talent comes at age 47.
In an interview with iTV.com she briefly comments about life's adversity which she did not want to focus much on. She also refers to people laughing at her and making fun.She was bullied, but, not victimized.
Even though Susan is unemployed, she chose to give of her time and talent in volunteering to those in her community who were alone, in need. She made the best use of her opportunities to make a difference for good in her village.
All the while, she sang. She sang in front of her mirror, for her cat Pebbles, in the church choir, at the local pub karaoke.
Susan Boyle blew the world away with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" an early ballad in the musical "Les Miserables".
As I watched Susan Boyles' face over and over again, I saw incredulous changes. I could see her putting the judges and audience in their place. Just before her first musical phrase was a "cheeky smile" as Piers Morgan puts it. Susan Boyle knew she was going to sit them back on their seats.
Raised Eyebrows
When Susan Boyles' first notes resonated across that auditorium, the cynical laughter quieted and a responsive crowd rose collectively to their feet to applaud this fiesty woman from the villages of West Lothian.
Simon's eyebrows went way up, Amanda's eyes were locked on Susan in surprise and admiration. Piers almost looked emotionally hooked into the power of Susan's passion in her music.
To watch the judges' faces as she sang is a marvel. How this candid, unpretentious woman completely has them spellbound. These judges are known for their callous demeanour for competitors. In this instance they are abandonedly swept up in her passion.
She sang her heart out over the thunderous applause of the crowd. Her voice mastered the wide range of the song, concluding with capturing your listening ear for the last quiet phrase.
Then in customary humility, she bows and exits gracefully. This was so cute!!!! The judges had to call her back for their comments. It was soooooo cute to watch her about face and march back to centre stage.
Susan Boyle continues to win the crowd and judges. Piers is stunned by the performance. Both he and Amanda acknowledge the unfairness of prejudice towards her initially. Both concede that "no one is laughing at you now", that " it was an absolute privilege to hear you".
Then Simon makes a smart remark about "knowing " and Susan directly admonishes him in the midst of the laughter. There follows a very warm acknowledgment of her success, and ability with a unanimous "yes". A jubilant Susan Boyle performs a victory dance such as we see with Super Bowl goals. It's was wonderful.
No Makeover Necessary for Susan Boyle
Susan Boyle now is almost a household name globally. Even my husband knew who she was when I said I was watching the video of her on YouTube.
Post event interviews in Susan's home introduce us further to a woman who lives her life in integrity and simplicity. There are some precious pictures of her in the village streets with youth having fun.
Susan tells this interviewer and others, that people who used to laugh at her are "being nice to her now".
Susan Boyle told the judges at the competition that her dream was to become a professional singer. When asked why she hadn't fulfilled her dream yet,she said, "because I haven't had the chance". Susan goes on to say that she wants to be like Elaine Page. That caused more raised eyebrows.

Literally Millions have Watched Susan Boyle
So, what happens next? Susan Boyle is interviewed by TV all around the United State. Larry King does a warm interview with Susan and Piers Morgan. Susan has a quote scrolling in front of her reading "I won't be lonely anymore" Piers goes on to say that he expects within a year a #1 album and world tour.
Susan had a dream. Whether or not she wins Britain's Got Talent that dream will be a reality for her.
Piers Morgan extends a sincere apology for their lack of respect for her on first acquaintance on stage.
Susan Boyle with Larry King Live
Susan Boyle speaks with Patti Lupone
Patti Lupone first sung this ballad in 1985 as a Tony Award Winner. She acknowledges how difficult the range of the song is and that Susan mastered the song.
Patti comments that Susan's performance took "pluck" and "courage"! I'm not so sure.
I heard Susan respond to one interviewer about her reaction to the apparent ridicule as she came on stage. She said, " I knew I had to do my act and I did it"
She knew she would make "that audience rock". That is the self-assurance I admire in Susan.
Patti did acknowledge that she was moved to tears listening to Susan sing the ballad.
"I Dreamed a Dream" sung April 11 by Susan Boyle has changed her life.
Susan's Talent has been Known, Not Valued?
Susan Boyle has been singing her entire life. Well since she was twelve. She told Larry King that she had some voice lessons a few months over two years.
She supported a Charity fundraiser with a recorded song ten years ago and still, her talent was not recognized for what it is and valued.
Susan paid to have a demo of her music published and the producers didn't run with it.
Did Susan allow that to deter her from following her dream?
Is her life on hold? Is she miserable because "nothing good happens to me"?
Does she stop singing?
Not at all.
As we learn more and more about Susan Boyle, we find that she is a woman of great heart. Serving others when she herself is unemployed. She knows how to have fun. She stands up for herself holding her head up high. She makes repeated comments of caution when discussing her future ventures.
Susan Boyle teaches the world some powerful lessons. Lessons that are perhaps more "viral" in these economic times, but, lessons that are also timeless and priceless.
Susan Boyle Did Not Give Up on Her Dream
Susan Boyle continued to sing. She did not lose her focus taking every opportunity to let her passion manifest through her song.
Susan did not let her age, her circumstances, her disappointments keep her from going after her dream.
Susan has inspired the world. When men and women look at her, see her speak and sing from her heart, they catch a glimpse of hope. Susan shows the world that anyone can follow their dream and make something happen for them. Even if your dream is not just as you envision it, the reaching for it will move you forward.
What is Your Dream?
It is a wonderful thing to dream of things you can do with your life that is bigger than the circumstances you find yourself in.
Or, maybe you just want to do something totally different than where you find yourself.
In these economic times, many people are hanging on by threads feeling totally out of control in their ability to provide for the necessities of life, never mind dreaming.
Do not give up believing that you have the opportunity to be entrepreneurial. Perhaps you want to a creative artist. Do you have goods or services that you believe in, wanting to market them in the most effective way.
Whatever you dream is, let Susan Boyle be an inspiration to you to persist until every stone is overturned in the search to make it happen.
What is My Dream?
I will be wrestling with that question, again, for the next few days.
I know that I am blessed and totally satisfied with my MLM company. My commitment is firm with a company that leads in the Wellness Industry. A company who is part of setting the standards for the regulatory process in nutritional supplements.
Further to that, I am fascinated with Attraction Marketing online. I know that countless number of people are turning to the Internet for any number of commercial reasons. I am part of a comprehensive training center for new marketers online.
A second part of my dream is enabling students of Attraction Marketing take their first steps to learning how to build a Internet presence. These students can be of any age, like Susan Boyle, perhaps having lived through a lot of life experiences and determined to learn/ participate in their dream. I am equipping myself to be the best guide I can be for those who are willing to do the hard work in building a foundation for their business online.
My dream may evolve as I live my life, but, I will never stop dreaming about the possibilities within my reach thanks to Susan Boyle

Pat,
Susan Boyle is a clear reminder to us all that we should never give up on dreams. Each and every one of us has great potential, question is, do we have enough belief inside ourselves to follow through or do we let the words of others squash us. Poignant song she chose to show the world who she was. There are more but here are just 3 Lessons from Susan Boyle - #1 Fight! Don't let the tigers in life steal the dream. Follow the dream you have inside, do not let the preconcieved good opinion of others hold you back or tear you apart. #2 Be Kind! Support others in their dream, one never knows when life may turn to a living hell (as the song states) and kindness is no where to be found. #3 Weather the Storms! The storms in life have their reason and meaning, try to get through them with grace.
Thanks for a great article and don't ever stop dreaming YOUR dream.
