Susan Boyle . . .

Britain had a surprise up its sleeve. Scottish singer Susan Boyle knocked everyone's socks off with her rendition of Les Miserables I Dreamed a Dream. The words of the song are particulary poignant in Susan's case, "I dreamed a dream . . . in time gone by . . ."

AT 47, some of Susan Boyle's days have indeed gone by but her future looks to be filled with many bright times ahead.

Susan Boyle--True Scottish Grit

Susan Boyle hails from the village of Blackburn, Scotland. The cat-loving spinster showed true Scottish grit. In spite of a luke-warm reaction from the crowd, which Susan stood and faced down, and braving the incredulous expressions on the judges' faces, Susan gave her all in a performance that has endeared her to the world.

In interviews, Boyle credits her strength to her parents. She relates that she came from a good family. Susan also mentions that many people in the village of Blackburn have musical talent. As she says, "It's in the blood."

Boyle has emerged as Britain's newest singing sensation. We can be thankful that Susan's mother encouraged her to sing on the show, Britian's Got Talent.

Susan proves that, in spite of difficulties, a person who believes in him or herself, can overcome, emerging the victor in the end. That dreams really do come true.
