Being a reporter in Pakistan in these times is a very interesting and engaging experience. Bad news seems to be pouring in from all corners of the country. The most controversial issue gripping the nation these days is the operation in Dir, Buner and Swat; the tribal belt of Pakistan which is being dominated by the militants and extremists. Finally the government of Pakistan has decided to go full-offensive as this seems to be the only option after the failure of peace deals with the militants. The most interesting aspect of the whole operation is the stance of the common people of Pakistan regarding the Swat operation.

I went out on the streets of Karachi to ask the common people of Pakistan their stance on the whole operation, it was heartening to know how they passionately opposed the extremist elements in the country and were strongly supporting the operation. They said that it should have happened a long time ago.

People of Karachi are sick and tired if the extremist elements in the country and want the government to wipe-out the militants and crush them completely. 140 militants were killed yesterday from the militant hide-outs in Swat. Thousands of Swat locals have been displaced due to this operation. Hopefully, if the operation is successful, the beautiful Swat valley which once attracted much tourism would be peaceful once again and would be considered a tourist resort once again...
