Sweep picking exercises - Sweep picking exercises that will have you mastering the technique in no time!

Are you like me? You have searched everywhere on the internet, tried about every trick and have looked for every possible way of fixing your technique. Are you practicing 3-4 hours a day and you still want to bang your head/guitar to pieces against the wall because you don't seem to make any progress?. Have you payed hundreds or even thousands of dollars for guitar tutoring that got you nowhere? All you have to do is -=** CLICK HERE **=- and you will never look back. It changed my life, and helped me accomplish my life long dream of becoming a great guitarist! If it didn't work for you, and I doubt it wouldn't, you can get all your money back in the first 8 weeks.

Let's get to some sweep picking exercises. Let me tell you where I have always gone wrong with this technique. It seems that every guitar tutor out there tells you to play slow and gradually move up the speed. Well, this way of practicing have messed with me many times and have almost had me give up my guitar.

The problem with me was, I would literally push myself to play super fast way too early and this never seemed to work. For example, I would be able to play at 30bpm semi-perfectly and move right on up to 40bpm in my next run through the scale/pattern. Firstly, I didn't have a perfect technique at 30bpm and I tried to use it at 40bpm which is one of the worst things you can do. The reason is, because your muscles remember the last way you played a lick/riff it plays it that exact way the next time. Now, you are practicing it at a faster level and it remembers the way you practiced it at 30bpm which was already imperfect and now you want to push this technique to accomplish something more difficult. I don't know about you, but this is almost like failing your flight-school training and the school still allows you to fly the next flight from from John F. Kennedy to Heathrow.

So now, you have a certain sweep picking pattern you want to master. Firstly, if it is a very long pattern, break it up. Even if it seems weird practicing only a part of the pattern at time, believe me this will help you in the long run. By repeating shorter pieces you are making it easier to commit the piece to your muscle memory. Secondly, you have to take this short piece and make sure you have chosen the right fingers to play it. I have realized sometimes that I can't build up speed and play a pattern perfectly because I have chosen the wrong fingers to play certain notes and my fingers kept on falling over each other.

Thirdly, after you have got the right fingers in place on your short pattern, start very slow and play it at that speed until you have it down absolutely perfect. If you realize that you can't get it perfect, go back and make the pattern even shorter and try out different finger positions. Start over at that slow speed.

After you can do it comfortably at that speed, you move it up by 1bpm. Practice it at that speed for 2 minutes and if you feel fine at that speed move 1bpm up again. Move up this way and make sure you keep your muscles relaxed and focus that you aren't tensing your shoulders, arms or hands. You can shorten the 2 minutes the faster you play the pattern.Follow this technique with every pattern and then connect them all until you have your fully mastered sweep picking pattern.
