The swelling of one or both kidneys is called Nephritis. It is characterized by inflammation of the parts of the kidney that filters the blood.



Types of Nephritis :

  • Acute Nephritis - occur mostly in children. There is no treatment on this type of disease, most patients recover from their first attack.
  • Chronic Nephritis - develop primarily in adults. Many cases involves only mild symptoms, the person may not even know that he/she has this disease.

This type of nephritis sometimes leads to uremia (a serious poisoning of the body by wastes normally remove by the kidney.To prevent and treat uremia the patient should undergo Dialysis. Dialysis will remove waste from the blood.

Symptoms Nephritis :

  • Pain in the abdomen area, Back pain, Extreme fatigue, Lack of appetite, Weight loss, Blood in the urine
  • Fever, Chills, Facial swelling, Loss of appetite, Nausea, High blood pressure, Vomiting , Frequent desire to urinate

Causes of Nephritis :

  • Infection due to bacteria, which come from the urinary tract going up from the bladder.
  • Due to infection like sore throat that is caused by streptococcal bacteria.
  • Another cause of nephritis is the presence of toxins in the body.
  • Prolonged exposure to toxic chemicals.

Recommended Treatments for Nephritis :

  • Drink large quantities of liquid preferably water, fresh fruit juices and herbal tea).
  • Cranberry Juice produces a substance that prevents bacteria from adhering to the walls of the bladder and the urinary tract.

Recommended Food Supplements, Vitamins and Minerals :
