Swim To Paris

There are many odd little gems in the Google Maps application. This is one I found particularly humorous. If you use Google Maps to get directions from New York to Paris, they have you park your car on the dock at Long Warf and swim 3462 miles to the coast of France. Pretty funny really. I suppose they aren't "driving directions" in which case you have no alternative except to pull off your shoes and jump in the water.

Give it a try if you get a chance. You start swimming at step 24 in the directions

Hi, Hedgeek. This is great! I once took the Hovercraft from England to France, and to tell the truth, it was so bumpy and confining, I think would have rather have swum the English Channel :-)

Hey Guru-C. Thanks for stopping by. I thought this was really funny. It seems that our friends at the googleplex are not without a sense of humor. :) I have a couple other google map weird things I want to share at some point.

Unfortunately, Google maps has been upgraded and no longer gives directions from NYC to Paris :(
