Sylvania Blu-ray, and Sony Playstation Blu-ray

I have been doing some research on Blu-ray Disc Players and have found most of them to be quite expensive. This cost is what brought me to the Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player. This player is the best value for a high quality player.

This model is so simple to use, and the picture was amazing. I never thought there was such a difference between Blu-ray and DVD. The audio playback and the video resolution are far superior than DVDs.

Set-up took me all of 5 minutes, and I was thrilled with the easy conversion of my DVD library. The outputs are limited, but it has the Coax and HDMI, which are all I really need. The remote seems to be lacking in quality, and it does take more time that I expected to load a Blu-ray disk. The features are limited, but the price is low, the more expensive models do have more features. I guess this is where the saying "you get what you pay for" applies.

Pros:

  • Less expensive than other Blu-ray players
  • Has all the necessary features ( HDMI, mute, audio, picture settings) Amazing picture quality
  • Really easy and quick to set up and use

Cons:

  • The remote is rather cheap, sad and pathetic, they could have done so much better
  • Blu-ray disks are slow to load, regular DVD loads quickly
  • No high-end features

There really is no need to go out and buy the more expensive Blu-ray machines when the Sylvania Blu-ray Disc Player provides everything you need. The cost difference between this model, and the more expensive, higher-end models is around $200.00, that is a lot of new HD downloads that I would rather spend my money on.

There is also great reviews of this player in Consumer Reports, I would definitely recommend this player to anyone who is ready to switch to Blu-ray.

Sony Playstation Blu-ray
I need to add that another option for a great Blu-ray player is the Sony Playstation...which not only allows you to play Blu-ray disks, but you can play some great games as well. The PS3 is NOT just limited to Blu-ray discs. It also supports CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats.

The PlayStation 3 system software also includes BD Live support that allows you to play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE), which means you can also connect to The Internet while playing discs that support this format to obtain additional features.
