Some Physical, Emotiional and Behavioral Symptoms of Stress
There are many symptoms of stress that you should keep an eye out for. Stress is an inevitable part of life. It will come into our life day after day in various forms. This is normal. However, we need to release this stress through any of several effective methods that suit us, such as meditation and exercise. When we don't release stress, it builds up and begins to wreak havoc on our body and spirit and manifest itself as symptoms. Here are some of these symptoms they may be telling you it's time to implement some effective stress management techniques.
Headaches as a Symptom of Stress
A headache could have a variety of causes including stress. If you are suffering from chronic stress, you should see a doctor. How does stress cause headaches? When we are stressed out we tend to clench our muscles all over our bodies. For example, when you are stressed out, have you noticed that you make tight fists or clench your jaw? What you may not have noticed is that you are tightening most of the muscles in your body. When we are stressed we also tend to tighten the shoulder and neck muscles. Such tension day after day causes the muscle to scar in order to protect itself. This scarring can restrict blood flow which results in tension headaches. This is a chronic condition because it takes time for the tension in the neck to reveal itself in the form of a headache.
How do you relieve the headaches and the stress? There are two ways, one long term approach and one short term approach. The long term approach involves managing your stress on a daily basis. Don't let it build up day after day. You have to relieve a little of it each day. You can do this through exercise or meditation. Also, learning how to be present in the now is extremely effective in reducing stress. You learn about this from author Eckhart Tolle (see link below).
Anxiety as a Symptom of Stress.

However, anxiety may be an indication that you just plain have too much going on. Do you find it hard to say "no"? Do you take on more than you can handle? Are you in debt? Or, is there anything else going on in your life that is causing pain and suffering? If so, then you may need to reduce the flow of stress into your life. As a former sufferer of panic attacks, I know how this feels.
Overeating as a Symptom of Stress
Sometimes stress manifests itself in our behavior, such as overeating. Have you been eating compulsively lately? This may be a sign that stress is building up in your mind and body. The overeating is a warning sign telling you to slow down or manage the stress appropriately.
