Hepatitis is the destruction of liver cells usually accompanied by inflammation of the liver. Sometimes hepatitis goes away by itself, but in some cases hepatitis can lasts a lifetime.

Causes of Hepatitis:

  • Viruses is the cause most cases of hepatitis
  • Amebic infections
  • Allergic reactions (especially to drugs)
  • Toxins such as alcohol or carbon tetrachloride
  • In other cases, your body mistakenly attacks its own tissues.

Forms of Viral Hepatitis:

  • Hepatitis A is commonly acquired by eating food or drinking water that has been contaminated with feces of infected persons. This is usually a disease of children and young adults, and it may occur in epidemics in overcrowded places. Infections with hepatitis A produce an antibody response that gives lifelong immunity.
  • Hepatitis B is acquired from blood or through sexual relations; saliva is another possible source of the disease.
  • Hepatitis C is also acquired from saliva, blood or through sexual relations, although the disease appears to spread less efficiently through sexual relations than does hepatitis B.

Incubation Period. Once the viruses have entered the body, they multiply in the liver and start the antibody response. Incubation period of the different types of Hepatitis:

  • Hepatitis A incubation period lasts from 14 to 40 days.
  • Hepatitis B incubation period lasts from 40 to 180 days.
  • Hepatitis C generally incubates for 45 to 90 days.

Symptoms and duration of the illness depend on the amount of liver that has been damaged. During the next 7 to 14 days the liver cells continue to be destroyed while the body's natural defenses are destroying the viruses. Thus the jaundice and other symptoms may worsen for two weeks and then rapidly improve. The fatality rate in otherwise healthy patients is very low.

Symptoms:

  • Light but constant abdominal discomfort
  • Headache, fever, chills, fatigue
  • Noticeable Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dark-colored urine and whitish excrement
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the eyes and skin) and enlargement of the liver - these symptoms will appear when more than half of the liver is damaged

Recommended Natural Remedy:

  • Bee Propolis - natural antibiotics, kills bacteria and virus. It also strengthens the immune system.
  • Licorice - has anti-inflammatory agent, stimulates the formation of antibodies and immune system defenses.
  • Lecithin - natural fat solvent.
  • Vitamin B, C and large quantity of Bee Honey.
  • Drink plenty of liquid (water and fresh fruit and vegetable juice), Bed rest and a diet high in protein, this helps the body form new liver cells and develop the antibodies necessary to destroy the viruses. Most patients are completely healed six weeks after the first symptoms appear.
  • Total avoidance of alcoholic drinks and elimination of animal fats in the diet.

Prevention. Administration of immune serum globulin may be effective in preventing development of viral hepatitis if administered shortly before or after exposure. Patients who have recovered from viral hepatitis are generally protected by their antibodies for about two years.

Other form of Hepatitis.

  • Toxic Hepatitis is caused by toxic agents or drug sensitivity, it is characterized by many of the same symptoms as viral hepatitis, but in toxic hepatitis the offending toxin may affect other organs, especially the kidneys, and produce additional symptoms.
  • Delta hepatitis occurs only in people who are also infected with hepatitis B. It apparently spreads through blood; it may also be transmitted sexually.
