It was a very happy day that Pakistan has won the T20 world cup 2009. The final match was between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in England at Lords

ABOUT T20 CRICKET WORLD CUP:

A few things are mentionable about this cup, especially with regard to Pakistani team. First of all, T20 cricket has been developed into maturity. Now the technique to play this type of cricket had been revealed to the teams.

In the beginning of T20 cricket, it was a fun game and there were only smashes and splashes of 4s and 6s. Every batsman even low order batsmen were hitting sixes as bowlers were boys of a local club. Boundaries were near about 60 meters. Bowlers were feeling that they were being charged for an unknown crime. Pressure from crowd and audience at home often making confliction in the mind of players.

But now it becomes rather clear and simple. Instead of being just hitting hard, planned game strategy play seemed. The habit of noting the weakness of batsmen and bowling accordingly give relief to bowlers. This strategy included short pitch bowling in early overs and full length deliveries like Yorkers at the reaming overs by fast bowlers, due to which in the last overs the routine practice of hitting hard was not much seen, although it disappointed the fans of 6s. And boundries were at normal length of the ground.

And a new cheerful thing was that in routine, English crowd remained just gave clap and be silent but in this cup it was very cheerful and screens was ILLUMINATED with their cheers.

This cup was clearly of bowlers though man of the series award goes to the batsman.

From Pakistani team’s prospective it had contributed many things to them. If we start from the beginning, it was purely a start like the nature of Pakistani team and the win was attached to an X-Factor by some experts like in 1992 world cup. No doubt, in it. But there were a few things which were different. First of their entire attitude, which was shown by Pakistani team’s body language. Not at a very high and touching to professional level, but to at least satisfying level was the COMMITMENT that was shown by each player. Every player put contribution to at least at that level which was required.

The strange thing about tournament from Pakistani’s prospective was the batting of Shahid Khan Afridi.

Wow! Batting of Shahid Khan Afridi when clicks, always be a sight to saw. But believe me it was not that old Afridi who just hit hard no, it was a batsman player who knows what is the right shot and what is the wrong shot, and it is the time to play slow and now just pushes. If in world cup 1992, semi final belongs to Inzimam-ul-haq then surely in this T20 cup both semi final and final belongs to Shahid Khan Afridi. Final was perfect but in the end, in the position when 23 was required in just 13 balls, a six and then a four from Shahid Khan Afridi loosened the grip of match from Sri Lankans. The other thing was the best bowling of Umer Gul against New Zealand by achieving 5 wickets. It was the first world record of T20 cricket for a bowler getting 5 wickets in a T20 Match.

Some chit chat about others, Kamran Akmal played superb though was not in highest scores, young Shazaib and Muhammad Amir shows much more potential for this tournament. Bowling of Afridi like ever was breakthroughing especially in semi final. Abdul Razzaq and Misbah did give their influence.

One more thing was that the whole Pakistani team from super 8s, was looking like a team who was feeded to do in the match and fortunately they did it.
