CHARACTERS- Joey, Foster Child, Anita, Mother: Isreal, father: Guardian, Lucy: Foster Father, Smiley: Baby girl 1 yr. , Joy: Adam, son 3 yrs.
- Joey was 14 years old when he was placed in a foster home of Anita and Smiley. His mother had been sent to prison, and father was unfit to keep him. Accordingd to statistics, his life had already been set into a negative pattern. Foster parents went to sessions for treating him. He was diagnosed as being schizophrenic, by the psychiatrist and given drugs to control his behavior.
- Lucy said to Smiley, how can we help him, and teach him good moral behavior. Smiley said that they would have to have a lot of understanding, and show a lot of kindness, and love.
- Joey could not understand his heartache and pain. He wanted to be home again with his mother. He missed his family, he just didn't belong to his foster parents. He didn't do well in school, and had trouble with law enforcement officers and teachers.
- He found a church and he could identify with the minister and his wife. He did get guidance from them. They had a daycare in the church, with a lot of kids. Some of the kids were foster children.
- He had just gotten out of jail, where he served 1 month. He had a fight with his live-in girlfriend, and she called the police on him. He left and headed for the church. The police saw him, and went in pursuit after him. The door was locked and they had to ring to get in. The Director had to tell them that he was there. This was a case of domestic violence, not a felony. They entered with guns drawn (2) police officers. They entered into the daycare center. They were there with screaming little kids.
- This happened just after lunch, on a beautiful sunny day. The Director saw them go to a closet and call him out, he came out with his hands up and head bowed. They shot him in the head and three times in the back! Kids were screaming and the bullets pentrated the sound of silence of a nuturing daycare in the Church.
- It was horrible! The community is still in shock and so were the parents. The local Ministers are very upset that they entered the church. The volience should not have occurred!
- What went wrong! Life it not recoverable, it is final. Foster Parenting is a very heavy responsibility. They tried to give Joey a new life and it didn't work out. Can kids overcome their early hurt and pain and begin a new life, that is what it's all about, when you are a Foster Parent.
- We know that Joey is at peace! There are still kids to be saved!
