THE FINGERPRINTS OF GOD

God: Are You There?
I would like to share a part of my book with you, part of which is autobiographical, in hopes that someone may find reason to yet hope.
Every person, for the most part, who comes to the Lord can look back and see the fingerprints of God all over the circumstances and people that brought them to the place of genuine repentance, confession and acceptance. God acts in the affairs of men and women even though it's primarily in concealment, or behind the scenes.
God's fingerprints was found in Egypt at a time when the overwhelming population of the Hebrew people was being regarded as a national threat to security. A new King had inherited the throne, probably King Seti I of the nineteenth dynasty, who ruled from thirteen zero three (1303 B.C) to twelve ninety (1290 B.C).
Moses, Gods chosen, who he preserved and prepared to deliver his people from Egypt, was ready to come on the scene. Moses life was threatened even before he came into the world. But God made advance preparations for the world to receive him. Pharoah had planned his death even before he was born: The King of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah; ";when you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live";, Exodus 1:15, 16.
Was it by chance that the King gave these orders to some midwives that ";feared God";? Look what happened: "; the midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the King of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live,"; Exodus 1:17.
Moses was born to Hebrew parents. His father was Amram, and his mother was Jochebed, of the tribe of Levi. God made it possible for Moses to even be born. Now he had to be preserved. It seemed like a hopeless situation, the King was determined to kill 'all' Hebrew baby boys. But Moses mother defied fear and hid him for three (3) months. When she couldn't hide him any longer she put him in a basket and placed him among some reeds along the bank of the Nile River. His sister, Miriam, stood at a safe distance to see what would happen with him.
Was it by chance that Pharoahs' daughter went down to the Nile to bathe at the time Moses was there? She saw the basket and sent her servant to get it. Opening the basket and seeing a tiny baby boy, something she probaby had been yearning for, she felt compassion for him. According to Exodus 2:6 she knew he was a Hebrew baby. And there is little doubt that she also knew that her father had ordered the death of all Hebrew baby boys. But her maternal instincts was stronger than any royal edict, and like the Hebrew midwives had done earlier, she defied Pharoahs' order and kept the child.
In those days they didn't have bottles, formulas, pampers and things like that. But Moses needed milk to grow and be strong. Pharoahs' daughter had no milk filling her breasts, so she could not nurse the child; but God had the answer waiting in the nearby brush. Miriam, Moses sister urged Pharoahs' daughter to call Jochebed, Moses mother, to nurse her own son. Moses was protected from Pharoah by becoming his grandson. Only God could have accomplished that! God's fingerprints could now be found even in the palace of the King.
In retrospect, I can see what I once believed to be coincidences as divine intervention. God has, does and, will breach the private affairs of men and women at point blank range. I can remember a particular incident in my own life that I would like to share with you:
Almost thirty years ago, before I committed my life to Christ, I was a drug abuser (heroin and cocain). One night, in addition to the drugs, I consumed a small amount of acohol. Not knowing my condition, my mother asked me to take her to work. She worked in a hospital as a nurses aide not far from where we lived. Carefully concealing my condition from her, or so I thought, I drove her to work. On my way back home the drugs and alcohol began to take their toll. I could hardly keep my eyes open. Rather than pull off the road and call someone, or just sleep it off, I tried to make it home by going faster. Big mistake! I thank God that no one else got hurt on the streets that night because of my insanity.
I started going faster and faster trying to make it home before I would fall asleep. It didn't work. Doing sixty plus miles an hour, in a thirty mile per zone, and less than a half mile from my house, I went to sleep. Needless to say, I was in a very bad accident. I hit a telephone pole head on. The car was totally demolished. I broke my right wrist, left ankle and, I had some facial lacerations. I was unconscious inside what was left of my car. A woman, and God bless her, who lived directly across the street from the accident, with great effort and determination, dragged me from the car. The car knocked the telephone wires down and the top of the pole was on fire. God has people everywhere. She helped me, I was semi-conscious, into her house where she called the Emergency Medical Service.
While I was in the hospital my Insurance Company took pictures of the accident. Even the 'so called' experts couldn't believe how I survived that accident. It was years later and after I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, that I could look back and see the 'Fingerprints' of God all over that situation. Even in the annals of divinely inspired history the hindsight of even some of us Christians leave much to be desired.
How about you. Are there any fingerprints on your life?

There surely are. In the natural, I could have been killed several times by drunk drivers and others. I missed leaving this earth early by a couple centimeters many times.
Interestingly, my own left ankle snapped half way off my leg as I slid on ice several years ago - snapped open like a chicken wing, but I had no pain. In a church service a few months later I was suddenly able to walk.
Thank you IAunn and Patty for your contributions to this hub, and for your own personal testimony about your ankle and it's divine recovery Patty. I appreciate your comments.
What an awesome hub! A moving story of God's amazing grace.
Thank you Cristina327 for your gracious comment.
God rules my life.
I went into hospital to have 99 gallstones removed.
Three operations, 7 weeks latter the third operation was not successful. Actually had an out of the body experience. I was finally allowed to live through God's Grace. We can all have God's Grace and love and live in his kingdom.
I pray for that day.
Thank you for your great hub.
Have a great new Year and a Better 2008
Another great piece Whezo! Thanks for sharing...I'm always interested in hearing about each persons story and hope to see more of this from others on these hubs. I am in agreement with you as I state in my personal story, I don't believe in luck or coincidence, I believe in the Hand of God.
Thank you MrMarmalade, and Christinekv, I am always appreciative of your candid gracious comments. Like I mentioned in one of my earlier comments on another hub, ' like iron sharpens iron, so does man sharpen man '. If there is no open and honest discussion, we would not know the various points of concern, and act accordingly.
Wow! This is a neat Hub...very informative and well-written. Keep up the good work!
