Cebu Island is a great place to visit go Scuba Diving or to chill. Many Ex-pats have landed in the Philippines and have stumbled upon the 'Queen City of the south' Cebu and have simply disappeared never to return. The City of Cebu is the capital of the Cebu province in the south of the Philippines and is the second most important city in the country. Cebu City is also known as the Queen City of the South.

Mactan is an island which is a few miles to the southeast of Cebu Island. The island is part of Cebu Island and is divided into Lapu-Lapu City and the municipality of Cordova. The island is connected to Cebu Island by two bridges one of which is the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. The Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the country's second busiest airport, is also found on Mactan Island.

Taoist Temple:

Taoist Temple is located in the wealthy residential suburb of Beverly Hills ( yes i said Beverly Hills, Cebu has its very own) about 4 miles north of Cebu City is an enormous temple. It was built by Cebu's Chinese community which is roughly around 15% of Cebu's population.

The Taoist Temple was built in 1972, the Taoist Temple is constructed in a highly decorative Chinese style.The temple is over 300 meters above the sea level, and if you can climb the 99 steps to the entrance, your reward will be one of the best views of Cebu Island and the City. and great sunset views!

 Colon Street:

Colon Street is the oldest street/road in the Philippines, It's named after the famous explorer 'Cristobal Colon' who we better know as Christopher Columbus. Located in the downtown Cebu City area which is lined with movie houses, department stores, Bars which really come to life at night!

 The Tops:

The Tops are situated on the top of the Busay Hills, it is an excellent spot which offers a breathtaking view of Cebu City and the Islands of Mactan and Olango. Cottages are also available for rent. This great must see spot is only 15 minutes ride from Cebu City's Lahug area and well worth the visit.

Fuente Osmena:

Fuente Osmena is a fountain to honour Cebu's favourite son, late President Sergio Osmena. It is one of Cebu city's most famous landmarks which dominates the uptown city area. Cebu's Uptown area is also home to commercial and banking establishments.

Mactan Beaches:

Mactan Beaches are famous around the world for there beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters which will promise an exceptional holiday experience. The beach resorts on Cebu Island offer great accommodation facilities, scuba diving, boating and other aqua sports are only some of the water sports readily available at most of the beach resorts.

Moalboal located around 49 miles southwest of Cebu offers reasonably priced cottages for rent and is also a popular diving area which has one of the best coral formations in the country. Scuba diving facilities are readily available.

One of the best ways to get around Cebu Island is by Jeepneythis is the prefered transport for the locals and Jeepney's cost next to nothing to use, just hop on pay the driver a set fee and hop off where ever you like. Jeepney's are the ultimate form of public transport!

Taxis are also another great way to get around and are very affordable. Airport taxis to the city will charge around P195 its better to walk a little bit away from the Airport and flag down a regular Taxis for around P25.

If you want to rent a car to get around the city and see the sites on your own you can hire a car and a driver. check with the hotel you are staying at for more information and prices, but again this is a very cheap way to see the city and Island of Cebu
