Before you misunderstand this post, i want to make some clarifications. This post is not about Bishop David Oyedepo, but about convenant university and their practice on HIV. I have been following development concerning the compulsory testing of students of the convenant university before admission and before graduation, and if i am to believe what ROLAKE said on channels television on friday 3rd of august 2007, then i will want to agree with her that all is not right with the position of the school on the compulsory HIV testing for students of the school.

From what i gathered parents of students in the school were made to sign some agreement (which is not peculiar with the school) with the school on the admission of their wards to agree and cooperate with the school concerning issues that may affect the school generally and therefore the school took it upon itself to conduct compulsory HIV test for students. This practice first and foremost is against the law of the nation and the HIV statute in general.

According to the HIV statue no one is to be forced, cajoled or tricked into going for the HIV test. It must be a voluntary thing and even before it is done there must be pre-testing councelling and after the testing incase it is positive there must be a post testing councelling. Which will help the patient to cope with living with the disease without actually being denied of their rights in the society.Right which includes,: Health, education,Employement and many more.

But in a situation where you find students being compulsorily tested without their consent, i sincererly believe that this is very wrong, not only for the students, but also it constitute a total disregard for the law of the nation.Another terrible thing is that even when you volunteer for the test, it has to be a confidential interaction between you and the doctor,it is not to be revealed to any one except you choose to do so.But in a situaton where you allow the whole university community to know about these and you then refuse to admit the student based on the fact that he or she is HIV positve is totally an unacceptable thing.

Convenant university is not the only institution who engages in this practice some employer of Labour do the same even without their employees knowledge they call it pre employement test.Even if you have been offered employement and you now test positive to HIV your employment will be withdrawn without any tangible explanation.

My grouse is this, convenant university is a christian university, where the believe in the healing power of the Lord is upermost,if this is the case, why must you then refuse to admit an HIV positive person if Jesus the great healer is still on the throne or dont you think that this is a contradiction. The fact that one is positive with HIV does not mean that the person cannot live a fulfilled life or does it mean that the right to education should be denied? This is an unacceptable practice and something should be done urgently to stem this act.

And for those who don't know , you have a right to refuse to be tested if you are being cajoled, forced or tricked, refuse and report to the necassary authority.I support voluntary testing,Try and know you status today. You can still live a good life even with HIV, ask MAGIC JOHNSON and ROLAKE,she just had a baby after living with the disease for 9 (nine years) and the baby is HIV negative.

No matter what is said about HIV and the rest, the only cure for this disease is love, care and affection .This is the only remedy for any one afflicted to live long and even overcome this disease.SHOW LOVE TO HIV POSITIVE PEOPLE AND WE WILL HAVE A BETTER WORLD FOR IT

NO YOUR RIGHT, FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT ,BUT ALSO KNOW YOUR STATUS.

There should be no compulsory testing for HIV-AIDS. If we support those who work together in Africa to find solutions, then this will help people stricken with this deadly disease all around the world. I have posted some information about a homeopath doing healing work in Africa with AIDS patients. http://hubpages.com/_7ncpnxogpz16/hub/Haiku-The-Ni
