What are Dreams?
Why Do We Dream?
Can We Control Our Dreams?
What Is The Significance Of Recurring Dreams?
These are just a few of the questions; you may have about [Dreams] that will be answered during this series of Hubs; on the one of the most profound mysteries of the “Mind” [Dreams.]
We start at he beginning by answering the question: What are Drams?
Simply explained Dreams are the mind’s way of, replaying, analyzing, filtering, comparing and cataloging: daily events, sights sounds, and other experiences. In the virtual reality of [Dreams Scapes,] are daily lives are relived for these purposes.
All memories are of previous thoughts, we just rethink or remember them; when they are needed for immediate use, then turn them in to action or inaction. All thoughts are cataloged thru or in Dream Scapes.
These thoughts may be constant and supply the background for our dreams, like what language we speak in, or what surroundings or environment the dream takes place in, but all of our thoughts: past, present, and future...are represented in our dreams at some time or another.
It is said that we use only 10% of our brains for the demands of our existence. So when we understand that man was designed to live for ever, it is conceivable that the other 90%, of our brains is storage space. An ample amount of room to put an eternity of: thoughts/memories.
These thoughts/memories...need to be filed away; in some type of coordinated fashion. Just like books in a library are listed according to the Duey-Decimal System, the mind has a system for storing memories.
Some what like computer memory, allocation there is the first layer or tier of memories. These are immediate access thoughts that help us navigate are daily routines: Who we are married to, who are kids are, the routes we take to work and back home, who our co-workers are. What our daily schedule may look like. All this information is readily available thru the brains filing of immediately accessible memories.
Then there is the second layer of memories; birth days, last names of friends and acquaintances, license plate numbers, social security numbers, etc.
Some of our thoughts are things that we consciously commit to memory, others are information that is picked up and recorded; by our brain with out us being consciously aware that the process is taking place.
As we sleep and our body disseminates nutritional intake to its proper organs to rejuvenate us physically; the brain goes to work, replaying the record information of the day, and like a highly trained personal secretary, it catalogs this information for future use.
We all know how important sleep is to the human body, but understanding What Dreams Are, helps to explain how important dreams are to are mental, and emotional and psychological, well being.
And in our next Hub in this series we will deal with another aspect of the “Virtual Reality World” of Dreams. Why do We Dream?
