TIPS FOR PERSONALIZED FOOD GIFTS

Gift-giving is common to people who wants to show appreciation and gratitude. But others wants to express more sincerity by doing it more in special way like personalized cards and specially-made gifts such as homemade food gifts. Holidays are near to come and one unique way of giving gift is to give special homemade food baskets.

Here are some guidelines for homemade food gifts:

First, choose food that doesn't spoil too soon. Most commonly used food as gifts are candies, cookies, fresh fruits and preservative fruits. Cakes, salads or even your finest recipes can also be given as gifts for as long as it has longer shelf life. Proper preservatives will be the common denominator for food gifts. The longer it last, the more feasible it is as food gifts.

Second, choose the best gift wrapper or container. Canisters, jars and cute boxes with decorative ribbons are best for candies and goodies. Baskets and native trays covered by colorful cellophane or other designed luminous papers are best for fresh fruits while preserved fruits are most fitted in bottles or jars. Shaped boxes with stylish ribbons can be used as gift container for cakes and foiled trays for salads or other recipes.

Third, determine the required temperature for the food gift baskets. Cakes, salads and other recipes can't stand hot climate. It is best to advice the person receiving the gift to eat it immediately or keep it stored in the refrigerator. Others include notice of expiration in the gift card. Some fresh fruits can easily ripen when exposed to warm climate. It is best to add tiny holes on its cover or wrapper to exhaust absorbed heat. Others prefer to give half-ripened fruits for much longer shelf life. Candies like chocolates usually melt easily when exposed to hot temperatures. It is advisable to use covered jars and canisters for easily-melted candies and goodies and decorative boxes for non-melt candies and cookies.

Fourth, choose the kind of homemade food gifts appropriate for the person who will receive the gift. Elderly usually prefer fruits, salads and special recipes while candies, goodies and cookies are best for young ones.
