The causes of changes in the color of a woman's skin include female hormones , consumption of pills that may react and have side affects and reflect pigmentation, exposure to sunlight that tans your skin and leave it dark.
Patchy pigmentation on the face is a common and noticeable problem, especially for women.
The critical issue is to diagnosis whether those are patches of darker pigmentation, or whether it’s normal skin color which seems to look darker by vitiligo in the surrounding skin area.
There is a kind of pigmentation called Melasma which appear as brownish patches on the face. This pigmentation is usually symmetrical, reflecting on both the sides of the faces and the most common area is on the bridge of the nose, upper lip or around the lips, forehead and the cheekbones and down wards to the jaw. The pigmentation is typically like a butterfly in shape.
Melasma is commonly found among woman suffering from hormonal disorders like Poly cystic ovarian disease, thyroid and those who are on oral Contraceptives, it also develops during and after pregnancy in women, and in the premenopausal phase of middle aged women. Exposure to sun may aggravate this problem, however it is not the exposure to sun that causes melasma. If she is suffering the condition which has happened from any hormonal imbalance even a minimum sun exposure may trigger off pigmentation.
Men equally suffer from this pigmentation , the biggest trigger is stress in men. Few have a family history of this problem and cannot escape from it. This may fluctuate with the exposure to sun rays and stress.sometimes it is seen that diabetic patients do get these pigmentation
The Melasma may be treated by:-
1)A bleaching cream which contain Hydroquinone with Tretinoin cream ,this helps to fade the Melasma pigmentation.(apply until the pigmentation fades away)
2)medically,Laser treatment would be helpful to erase the skin discoloration
3)Avoid exposure to the sun rays for a longer length of time.
4)use sunscreen lotions daily with with SPF-30
5)You should use only mild soaps such a DOVE OR Olay or mild cleanser As face wash.
6) fruit cream containing lactic acid, fruit acid or Glycolic acid could be used or directly have a fruit based facial or a curd facial.
7)temporary relief could be made by Camouflaging with cosmetics .
8)Stop the use of make-up, creams, lotions or facial cleansers which irritates the skin or you get allergy .
9)Apply a facial pack of multani methi (yellow earth) and then apply some cold cream
10)extract of aloe vera also helps if applied regularly. These pigmentation are extremely stubborn in nature and are really hard to get rid of ,but then, stick to some home remedies and have plenty of water to remove the toxins and wash your face with plain water and let the wet face dry naturally and rub raw papaya juice on the patches ,it helps to lighten the patches .you may also rub a slice of lime to lighten them .
