Top 10 Rediculist

I love music!! The only reason I even found out and gave Hubpages a try is because I watched DJ Functuall on Youtube. If you ever get a chance, you should too. His love of music runs much deeper than mine, but then again, he is a DJ. I am just an elementatry school teacher. DJ and I are the same age, old, so I thought I would make in his words a rediculist. The only thing I have been collecting on Youtube is David Letterman live performances. I love watching those, or even just listening to them while I work. Being the live music junkie that I am, and since I have 34 or so on my playlist. I would like to give you the Top 10 Letterman live performances on my Youtube playlist. Enjoy!!

#10 1/2 OK GO - Here It Goes Again

So I know, I am already cheating. I really like this live performance, and have to give it proper credit for being one of the best videos of the last 5 years. I really think they sound better live, and this song has such a great energy I had to include it. Bonus: They, like me, are from Chicago

#10 Dido - White Flag

I am really not a wuss, but I like this song. Ok, I am kind of a wuss and I work in a female dominated field so I guess sometimes it rubs off on me. I just like people that can actually sing. I don't watch American Idol, and I get much static from my family members for that. I think Dido nails this song, and I like the little girl jamming percussion in the background. Nicely done. If you ever need a date Dido, I am here for you.

#9 Wilco - War On War

This is my absolute all-time favorite song from Wilco. These guys are really good, my age (old), and innovators. True Fact: I once played the lead singer Jeff Tweedy in pinball at Lounge Ax in Chicago. True Fact #2: I also just saw Wilco recently at Stubb's BBQ and they played this song, which I videotaped and will post after this video. My philosophy of life in this song, you have to lose and learn how to die, if you wanna be alive. True dat.

Bonus: Wilco in Austin Shot by ME

#8 MGMT - Time To Pretend

This is probably the most recent song on the list. I figure I need to spice it up a little with some music for the kids. This band is very cool, and playing Austin City Limits coming up in September. I care, because I live in Austin, Texas. They are very creative with their capes and giving this song an electric feel. If you watch until the end, they spike it with a little humor. Good job MGMT, I like a song where you can talk about shooting heroin and get it past the Letterman censors.

#7 311 - Down

Anyone who knows me, and I am dark and myserious so don't even try, knows I LOVE 311. THEY RULE MY MUSIC WORLD. But this is a great performance by them. Dave gets so revved up at the beginning, he has to like them. True Fact: I have played blackjack with Nick Hexum, the lead singer, in Vegas. True Fact #2: I went to the 3/11 day concert in New Orleans, and am going to 3 other 311 shows this month. Yes, I love them.

#6 The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl

I am a big Jack White booster. I just saw his other band the Raconteurs about 2 months ago. I think he all about music. The thing I like most about this song is Meg White. She is supplying much energy on this one, and I think Jack feeds off that.

#5 1/2 Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly

So I am going to cheat again, and put 2 Foo Fighters videos. Learn to Fly is one of my favorite songs. I also love the glasses that Dave Grohl is wearing in this song. I had to put it in. The second is David Letterman's favorite song, Everlong. This is the performance right after he came back from his heart surgery. I am sure it would be up higher for most, but I am not sentimental like that. It was good, but my top 4 are rock solid!!! You'll see!!!

#5 Foo Fighters - Everlong

#4 Phantom Planet - California

One of the best songs ever, California loses street cred because it was the theme to The OC. But it rocked before that show, and I can claim ignorance because I NEVER watched the OC. I am not talking if nothing else was on, I would maybe click on it and watch 10 minutes. I NEVER watched the OC. This song is not tainted for me in that way. Watch Jason Schwartzman rocking the drums in this performance. True Fact: Jason Schwartzman has a new band called Coconut Records True Fact #2: Jason is also related to filmmaker Francis Ford Copolla.

#3 Rage Against The Machine - Guerilla Radio

I watched this video and thought about how much I miss these guys. This is a great performance because I haven't seen Dave have bands outside. Jimmy Kimmel does it all the time, but not Dave. So you get a great feel for the band on this one. I think Rage started to lose it, when one of them started climbing the fixtures at the MTV Video Awards. I believe Tim must have been having a bad trip or something, and after that it was all downhill for them. Talk about losing street cred, you can't make a stand for something on MTV anymore. In fact they haven't played a video in over a decade.

#2 Feist - 1,2,3,4

Feist must be Canadian for knows how to make interesting shows and videos. Seriously, old girl knows how to sing and give innovative little shows in the process. The best Feist performance is from the Jimmy Kimmel show. She is on a bus and performs "I Feel It All" with these bizarre instruments. I can't find the link but it is on my Youtube channel. Just go to adrock1970, and you can find it in my favorites somewhere. You could also watch my children be adorable too.

#1 1/2 Beastie Boys - 3 MC + 1 DJ/ So What'cha Want

BEASTIE BOYS REIGN SUPREME

You might have picked up the clue from the adrock1970 Youtube channel. I am a 311 lover, but a Beastie Boy through and through. I could tell you many stories and Fun Facts, but I will save that for later. The first video is shot by the audience, Dave, and Paul to promote their new movie. If you haven't seen it, Awesome I Shot That, is truly that. MCA gave out cameras to about 50 people and edited all the footage to make a concert video. He then returned the cameras the next day to the store to get his money back. The #1 video is completely innovative. Coming out of the subway....are you kidding me. You have to watch this performance. If Feist is original, the Beasties are Letterman trend setters. PLEASE COMMENT MORE HUBS COMING!!

I love 311 too! That was a hilarious David Letterman, thanks for the proof.

PS: I also went to 311 Day this year and saw 2 shows this summer. Wish it were more...but I snuck backstage in Irvine and met Nick-for the 1st time ever. Yay!

Nice list. I'd submit Wolf Like Me by TV on the Radio, Nausea by Beck and I Need More Love by Robert Randolph and the Family Band (gotta see these guys live, amazing; they all rotate instruments).

Hey :)

U sounds like U watch a lot of David Lettermans shows. So maybe U can help me, I'm looking for a group, where the band and all of the instruments were all white, it was only the singer who had coloured her hands in blue and pink. Do U know their name? I really hope U can help :)
