TOP 5 Video Returns...sort of.

Releasing one every night could only work if people voted consistently which alas they did not. Besides, if I had to do one every day and do it right, that would be all I could accomplish in a day. Life goes on..

I could easily have put up unintentionally FUNNY videos like Oh Sherrie by Steve Perry but then you'd have to hear the song and that wouldn't be good for anyone.

We got some real fun stuff to watch today!

AND THE NOMINEES ARE...

It'sa Mine! MINE ALL MINE! So Let's Go!

Named after lead singer Perry Farrell's former junkie roommate Jen Bainter, this band led by guitarist Dave Navarro, was to alternative music as The Ramones were to Punk. They didn't invent it, they re-invented it.

Perry Farrell also founded and headlined the inaugural Lollapalooza Music Festival in 1990. After the initial break-up of the band Porno for Pyros featuring the hit single Pets was next for Farrell. Navarro joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers briefly as well....the band would reunite and disband again, etc.

Their BIG hits in order were: Jane Says ~~ Mountain Song ~~ Stop! ~~ Been Caught Stealing ~~ Classic Girl ~~ Just Because ~~ Superhero (Entourage theme)

#1 ~ Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction

Everybody loves a good Weezer video.

Weezer was originally made up of Rivers Cuomo (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Jason Cropper (Lead Guitar), Patrick Wilson (Drums) & Matt Sharp (Bass).

They broke out in 1994 with two classic music videos directed by Spike Jonze, "Undone-The Sweater Song" and "Buddy Holly" which they did seemingly live at Arnold's Diner from Happy Days. But we've all seen those so I had to dig deep and find the diamond in the rough. This little ditty went kind of under the radar...if you weren't a Weezer fan, I mean. The Muppet Show is the parody this time around as The Swedish Chef, Animal, and of course, Kermit the Frog himself take the stage with Weezer.

Their BIG singles in order were...Undone - The Sweater Song ~~ Buddy Holly ~~ Say It Ain't So ~~ Hash Pipe ~~ Island In the Sun ~~ Dope Nose ~~ Keep Fishin' ~~ We Are All On Drugs

#2 Keep Fishin' by Weezer & The Muppets

From CBGB's to The Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, the Talking Heads were always on their own terms, cutting-edge. David Byrne & Jerry Harrison (formerly of The Modern Lovers who joined in '76) were the leaders of this New Wave-Post Punk group from New York. They are definitely an artistic bunch too. Lots of strong personalities in one room of course leads to discord, etc. The band broke-up under a lot of strain from Byrne's controlling style of songwriting of have vowed never to re-unite.

Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz (the other two members of the band) formed the Tom Tom Club in 1980 and had the rediculous smash club hit "Genius of Love" which has been sampled more times than any other new wave record I can think of. The Tom Tom Club still record today and released a Christmas package last year called "Mistletunes". They had so many hits that I better start naming them now...

Sugar On My Tongue (which was later covered by the Hip-Hop trio of Trick Daddy, Cee-Lo and Ludacris) ~~ Psycho Killer ~~ Life During Wartime (This Ain't No Party) ~~ Take Me To The River ~~ Once In a Lifetime ~~ Burning Down The House ~~ This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) ~~ And She Was ~~ Stay Up Late ~~ Road To Nowhere ~~ Wild Wild Life ~~ (Nothing But) Flowers

#3 ~ Once In A Lifetime by Talking Heads

Ok Go

The story of this Chicago band is becoming quite a common one in the age of Youtube. They made their own video in their backyard with elaborate choreography for about 10 dollars and it went on to become one of the most downloaded videos of all-time. This single came from their second album and it won numerous awards including a Grammy for Best Short-Form Music Video.

It is almost impossible not to like what they did here with the treadmills.

#4 Here It Goes Again by OK GO

This video is our final selection today. This band will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this year. They are vintage California in every way and Flea is one of the most beloved bass players of all time.

They always good videos but this one is special. In it we see the Chili's tranforming from Elvis to The Beatles to Jimi Hendrix to Ziggy Stardust and the it goes on...

Great video from these Cali vets. Their Essential Songs are...TRUE MEN DON'T KILL COYOTES ~~ Get Up and Jump ~~ Fight Like a Brave ~~ If You Want Me To Stay ~~ Hollywood (Africa) ~~ Taste The Pain ~~ Knock Me Down ~~ Higher Ground ~~ Johnny Kick a Hole In The Sky~~ Show Me Your Soul ~~ Give It Away ~~ Suck My Kiss ~~ Breaking The Girl ~~ Mellowship Slinky ~~ under the bridge ~~ SOUL TO SQUEEZE ~~ Warped ~~ Aeroplane ~~ My Friends ~~ Love Rollercoaster ~~ Walkabout ~~ Road Trippin' ~~ Scar Tissue ~~ Otherside ~~ Around The World ~~ Parallel Universe ~~ Californication ~~ By The Way ~~ Can't Stop ~~ Dosed ~~ The Zephyr Song ~~ Dani California ~~ Tell Me Baby ~~ Snow (Hey Oh)

#5 Dani California by Red Hot Chili Peppers

I really wanna vote for the Muppets here but it has to be Jane's Addiction's line dancing in the supermarket.

I vote for #1 as the best!

I love all these guys, but once again have to pick just one. I also loved Jane's Addiction, not for the line dancing, but for the stocking face guy. I can't vote for them, though, because I love the Ok Go video more. I can watch it over and over. Great song too. I vote for #4.

Thanks for stopping by my friend.

Wondering what people think of the Muppets though.

I love the muppets. Used to have an Animal lunch box in school. That doesn't age me at all, does it? Weezer is always inventive and fun so I wasnt surprised to see Kermie and Miss Piggy in the video.
