Triskaidekaphobia is a form of superstition practiced is generally in European countries, I was told. It is a fear that people have about number 13. People believe number 13 brings misfortunes to their lives. For instance, people would avoid booking room number 13 in hotels, seats number 13 on trains, planes and tables number 13 restaurants fearing it would bring bad fortunes to them. Children born on the 13th are thought to be ones destined for doom. Hotels, restaurants, public transports deliberately avoid numbering their seats, rooms and other services with number 13 because people would not hire them.  The name Triskai dekaphobia consists of three Greek words:Tris=3, Kai=and, Deka=10 Phobia=fear. It is 3 plus 10 =13 and fear. The fear of number 13. Is it still practised ? Please respond.

Hello Jak,

I know of a road in Hertfordshire in England where the builder numbered his houses on the odd number side of the road 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, - 15, 17. No house with number 13 on it. How whacky is that, 'cos in Truth number 15 is always, in reality, No 13?
