Take Better Pictures for Ebay
58How to take better photos
Taking photos for things you want to sell is crucial in making the most money from that sell. Sure a great description is needed but you should have several well taken photographs.
There are some things that you can should do to get the perfect shot of the item that you are taking.
Having a great camera is one thing that you should have, but since the web only shows photos in 76 dpi its not necessary to have top of the line camera. But make sure that you are taking the photo with the higher mega-pixel that you can.
Take several photos of the item, then use only the best photograph that you have of the item.
One thing that you want to make sure of, is that if your item has ANY reflection on it, and the world may see you in the reflection, that you are properly dressed. Or your photo may make it around the web several times before you know it.
Lighting and background
Lighting is important. Try to get natural sunlight to take your picture. If you can't get natural sunlight, Take the shot with the lights on and without flash. There is nothing more annoying then looking at a picture on eBay and the middle of the item you see the flash reflection.
Taking the picture outside is great if you can get the item outside. You don't want to lay it on the grass, but take a white sheet or something that you can put the item on to take the photo. Make sure the sun is at your back.
For the background you want to keep it simple. You don't want to lay the item on the kitchen floor that people can tell it's on the floor. You can cover the table with a cloth or paper then take the photo.
If you are taking photos of clothing, try hanging the clothes on a hanger then take the picture in front of a wall that is neutral color. This will prevent people from being distracted from things other then the object that you are trying to sell.
What to take
If you are selling a figurine or something that has several sides you will want to take photos of all angles so that when you are done shooting you will have several photos to choose from. You also want to take close ups of things that you mention in the ad. If there is a little nick on the item that you mentioned, take a close up of that area so that they can see.
You want to have clear photos that are not blurry so that everything can be seen in great details.
Details in pictures is what people look for.
Clothing can be taken hanging up or taken with someone wearing them. If you are taking them of someone wearing them, make sure that the clothing fits the person and that the buttons are gaping. You can go into Photoshop and cut out just the article of clothing that you want to sell.
Use rulers beside the object so that people can see the actual size of something. This is great if you are taking photos of earrings, or something similar.
With digital cameras you can take as many photos as you want then you will be able to choose the best of the best and have great photos every time you list an eBay auction.
