Take Me To My Happy Place

Words come at you everyday; Poems are just a little more organized in what they have to say! Tuesday, May 19, 2009 Ok...Just have to send out another "Manly Poetry Man" Poem today...It is a beautiful day in H-town...Wishing All: Good Times On The Planet....Where ever you may be on this planet. This blank white canvas computer screen is calling me to bring...yet another one of life's simple slogans...to life...in Manly Poetry Words... Here Goes:
By the way...Poems: Get a bad rap...usually considered flowery, soft, artsy, etc. Maybe...some of that is true. But...put in the right context...Poems can get a point across with underlying stealth and quiet intelligence. Perhaps...even better than the average writings we see daily. This is Mr. Manly Poetry Man's Quest. To Boldly Go Where No Poetry Man has Gone Before and...Boldy Write Some New Poems...? Sometimes Poems need to have their energy harnessed and then put on display. With that I bring you:
Take Me To My Happy Place
Welcome to the World as we know it today...
No time to talk...Got Bills to Pay!
I will be in big trouble if there is a slight delay...
How did I come to be in all of this...Anyway?
We seem so fragile...So weak...We better not even arm ourselves with a slingshot...
Or else some big bully will come over and beat us up...then knock out all our snot...
I don't want to believe this current scenario is all we got...
However...I'm checking my own course for a new direction to plot.
Even though...most days I feel trapped like a mouse in a maze,
And I haven't done anything wrong...Yet, I still have to plead my case...
Things seem rocky and a bit on edge for those of us in the human race...
I can't even look at the headlines anymore ...Take me to my happy place!
News says we are in a big Recession...
Maybe...also headed for a Depression.
My heart says to me: "Keep On Truckin' "...
Get back up on that Horse...even if it's buckin'.
Folks around screaming: "The End is Near,"
Put me on the first Space Shuttle out'ta here!
Things can't be as bad as they appear...
Besides...Not much we can do anyways...I fear.
We may be on borrowed time...or still here by grace.
I plan to stay busy working, keep on living, and save face.
Don't understand how people lose it and go off on a wild craze,
Things' been crazy here before...Take me to my happy place!
It will all work out for the good...in time...I have no doubt...
I could certainly use some help... Maybe Congress can give me a "Bail-Out"?
Then I'll add my own Bonus to it...whether or not the masses shout...
So I can cover my own butt...which is afterall...what I care most about.
But...Let Not My Heart Be Troubled...I am a simple citizen...you know...
The ones that do our thinking would rather convert our dollar over to the euro...
And send us diving down in flames owing other Nations with our growing National debt...
But Nations that owe us never pay us...I don't get that..."What the heck?"
The heat is up...and the pressure cooker is turning red...
If it was only a bad morning I'd pull the covers back over my head...
It has come down to where I could sure use a good hand..."Help me draw an Ace,"
One thin card could make or break me...Take me to my happy place!
Looking around...everything seems normal...on this planet we call Earth,
Time to take a break...Enjoy the moment...and each minute for all it's worth.
Nobody has all the answers...although a few wouldn't hurt a bit...
After all...We're in this for the long haul...What'ch you gon'na do...Quit?
Bet we can work it all out...just by coming together for the Cause,
Simple people...helping each other...no big speeches...or loud applause.
Together, us common folk can make solutions, and give our neighbors a helping hand,
It won't help us to get worried...Worry never helped increase the days of one man.
Some leaders sit and ponder...while another leader is ready to Nuke us gone without a trace.
We have options...We don't have to sit and wait for our leaders to re-review this case...
We all have a stake in trying to keep this crusted layer of molten lava...floating out in Space...
Oh well...I've got Faith...And the Sun's still shining...Take me to my happy place!

Thanx Cris A: Appreciate the head's up on formatting and the comment.
I also like your happy face........happy place ending. I liked this poem.
Very nicely written. A poet with a cool sense of humor, I love it!
I'm a newbee to you, followed a trail of folks I trust.. here you are. This is a fun look at a realistic life. Where is your "happy place?" Thanks for allowing us a peek into 'you'!
My happy place? CandyV is right here writing along with all of ya'll!Welcome along my poem journey...Thanks for chimin' in on this poem...hope you always enjoy "a fun look at a realistic life", my friend.
You write it, I shall read it! My biking buddy moved to Plano 3 years ago, keeps bugging me to visit and one of these days I shall. Maybe meet at the airport..or..for coffee and a chat!
nice rant, well not really, I get where you are coming from
Naaah...No way: "Poetry words are way too organized to rant...Brenda! Especially when done in a Manly Way..."
I did some time in Texas with my 2nd husband. Both my girls were born there (San Angeleo and Ballinger) and we lived for some time in a little rat hole called San Saba which calls itself the Pecan Capitol of the World. I hate pecans. I'm sorry to say it wasn't my happy place. But all that aside, cool poem. Keep on writing!
Did time in Texas...? Sounds like you weren't that happy in your little Pe'-Can Capitol Rat Hole. Hey...but...don't judge all of Texas on one particular place. Happiness is where you find it...and one person's rat hole is another person's king size-high dollar-hole in the wall-getaway! So to say...Just for the fun of it...Disturbia! Enjoying your comments though...you bring a little of your "matter of fact" writing style along with your comments.
Actually I loved Texas. It's a beautiful place with lots of friendly people, and San Saba was a pretty little town. Maybe it was my 2nd husband I didn't like...LOL! Either way, I'm in a very happy place these days.
Many Happy Places to you, Disturbia...for all your days!
I like it! I wrote about my happy place but not in poetry form. I always wanted to be a poet but short stories and journalism seem to be more my thing.
Well then, dana825...here's to writing many short stories and journalism articles...especially after being inspired from your "happy place" with horses all around. Wish you much success!
Good hub..enjoyed it alot. I'll have to check out more of your poems.
Enjoyed your comment, western angel. I hope you will check out more of my poems. Thanks for stopping by and paying me a visit.
I perceived the realist, not a rant
Saying together, there is no way 'we' can't
Little room to worry 'bout our own butt in the cause
Your words lead to consider our direction and pause
The heat has indeed risen
Perhaps it's time for revision?
Could not help once again responding in your language Manly Poetry Man. Why be alone in the challenge? Love your poem - it caused a lightbulb realization: "we" are not given anything we don't have the strength to handle - yet perhaps it is time to realize there is no "we" strength as islands...
Precisely...SEM Pro...Go to the head of the class...You just passed Advanced Manly Poetry 301. With no doubt...we are not islands. The "we' strength comes in...in us working together...it always has! Sure...it is easy to look at our own personal problems...and count on our ownselves...and to even try and laugh at them. But...Yikes!...if you look at these instances used in this poem...they are corporately many of all our problems... simultaneously. Almost enough to make you want to cry...Huh?...yet this is a "Happy" Poem. Oh well...have a nice day...and put on a "Happy" face...!
Yet again...you leave another excellent poetry response as comment, SEM Pro!
Manlypoetryman, I like your style. I did not think your commentary on current events was a rant, either. Good points in a new format. Thanks!
Thank you, Smireles...like your Texas writings...as well. Yep...there is no way this poem can be considered a rant;
There is a Happy Face at the bottom...therefore it just can't! (rant-that is) : )Thanks for your comment.
Ahh take me to my Happy place!!! is it time to go home yet??
Hey Ms. Chievous: It's Friday for me at least...How about you? It's almost time to go home! (You're going to make it!) Thanks for stopping by and commenting...!
Good one! Took me to my happy place. And who could avoid smiling seeing that HUGE smiley at the end? Well done. See you around
Resolver: Great! Thanks for your comment and for reading this happy place poem...Glad you liked it. Keep on smiling...Besides it's not all that bad anyways...Right?...Ka-Bloom! (Get it? Ha!)
Poetry man did you get my email?
I just did...Texan...Thank you for the heads-up!
would you mind commenting on any one of my Hubs so I can see your IP and see what he thinks he see's?
No Problemo...A Texan...Be right over due to the miracle technology of the internet...and the fact that we have two different IP addresses...
very uplifting words! too often we find ourselves overwhelmed with worry and neglect the strength within. thanks for keeping us on course with your words of encouragement! keep it comin'!
thanglynn07: Well...thank you very much. This poem can be definitely be a happy one...despite what all is going on around us...there is always some place where we can be happy! (even if that place is only in our mind!) Appreciate you dropping by and leaving this good comment...Humbly, MPM
Did you get there yet? nice smiley, you are smiling aren't you?
ralwus: Yes...that's a smile on my face...in the middle of that perplexing scowl...!Believe it or not...that is me in the future...and that squared-off look is actually one of total contentment! This poem helped me get through all the craziness of 2008/2009...in order that I could live to the ripe ol' age of the feller...you are seein' on that tractor (1942 International Farmall)out in the back forty...at peace with the world!
Well, good on you then. Lucky we dint end up like our grandparents during the depression. I was looking for another dustbowl any day. LOL
Tis True...ralwus...we are the fortunate ones to have not gone through a Depression...yet. Dust Bowl, you say? Well...I don't know how the "Heartland" is faring...in that regards...but Texas counties all across the board have been hit real hard with bad droughts over the past two years...I surely hope that trend does not follow into next summer! Oh well, my friend...We just along for the ride anyhow. With that...I think I'll go crank up the ol' tractor...and ride on out a cow trail to see how the morning is progressin'!

Hell yeah! Keep the faith! Cool poem this one is - bordering on ranting but hey, it couldn't be, there's a smiley at the end! I envy poets who can rhyme, :D
Btw, you may want to explore the formatting options available when you edit/write your poetry so your segmentations will come out the way you envision it. :D
