Have a vocation without blowing your bonus. All you need is a car to join the driving holiday scenic in Cameron Highlands.

Enjoy the cool mountain air, rolling hills and rural landscape of farms - strawberry, tea, flowers and vegetables. Load up on produce and show children the source of supermarket food.

The strawberry farms are a major highlight, and the rolling hills of the Boh Tea plantation an unforgettable sight for city-slickers young and old. And of course, we must make time for a steamboat dinner.

DAY ONE we start early in the morning, moving out in a convoy guided by our marshals. You'll have rest stops along the way, and lunch at the major R&R area of Sungei Buloh.

Our drive on the new Simpang Pulai Highway should be scenic and pleasant. By mid or late afternoon, we should arrive at Hotel Equatorial in Brinchang. This resort is nestled at a lofty 1,628 m in the mountains!

For something different, we've planned a traditional charcoal steamboat dinner at the farmyard of Water Cress Valley. If time permits, we might even do a tour of the watercress farm!

The steamboat dinner is a signature dish of Cameron Highlands, the perfect meal in the cool air especially during the night! If you travel on your own, I advise you to pick a restaurant where there is a waiting queue. Often, there are good reasons why one restaurant has a long queue while the one next door is empty!

After a hearty dinner, it is time to visit the night market at downtown Brinchang. Expect a mind-boggling variety of fresh market produce here!

DAY TWO After breakfast, we visit the famous Boh Tea Plantation which dates back to colonial days.

As the road leading to the plantation is small and tight, we encourage you to car pool if you can. Take the opportunity to buy various blends of tea.

Next, we visit a real working farm where produce is harvested on a daily basis. For children who've never seen vegetables growing from the ground, this is a pretty educational experience

From here, we move on to the strawberry farm. Most strawberry farms offer a "pluck your own strawberry" package. And you even have the opportunity to plant your very own strawberry sapling. You are at liberty to return four months later to do the harvest! Feast on fresh strawberries and strawberry ice cream.

After lunch, you have time to explore Cameron Highlands on your own. You may opt to drive to the next town of Tanah Rata which has a mini neighbourhood feel.

Or if you've been to Cameron Highlands in your youth, revisit the Old Smokehouse. Yes, it is still here!

DAY THREE After a slow lazy breakfast, it is time for last- minute shopping for reasonably priced fresh greens. As gifts, freshly packed strawberries are a good buy.

The Cameron Highlands is not for hardcore shopping addicts. But if you want to unwind and hang loose with the family, this is a break you'll enjoy.
