Taking Care of Your Hitachi Cordless Drill
Using your Hitachi Cordless Drill improperly can cause it to malfunction and may even cause injuries. But when you take care of it, your tool will work very efficiently and will have a longer life. You will not need to replace the accessories and the tool itself as often if proper care is given. You will also be able to work faster! Here are some things to do to make sure that your tool is well taken care of:
Use the tool or attachment for its correct function. Do not force the tool, by making a small tool work just like a heavy-duty tool. Using it correctly is safer and more efficient. Also, use the accessories that are made for the make and model that you have. Using incompatible accessories or spare parts may be harmful to you and/ or the drill.

Battery Pack and Repairing Your Hitachi Drill
Use battery packs that are designed for the model. When the battery pack is not in use, keep it in a dry storage area. Make sure that it is away from small metal objects such as coins, paper clips, keys and the like. Otherwise the battery might be damaged. Do not charge the battery with chargers that are not specifically designed for the battery pack. Before storing the tool, disconnect the battery pack from the tool. Recharge before the battery is completely discharged. This will also avoid damage to the battery. Let the battery pack cool down after use before charging, since charging it while hot can deteriorate the chemical substances in the battery and shorten its life. Do not charge the battery outdoors. Make sure that you keep the battery away from direct sunlight. You should also wait at least 15 minutes between each charge, which will prevent overworking and overheating the charger.
If and when any crack is found in the tool, do not use it until it is repaired. If the tool is acting abnormally, or if there is an unusual strange noise, have it checked out and repaired. This, again, may be harmful to you and/ or the tool.
Hold the tool carefully and properly. Be careful that you do not drop it.
Do not use any kind of solvent to clean plastic parts of the tool. Solvents like gasoline, alcohol, thinner and benzine can damage the plastic parts. Use a lightly dampened soft cloth instead. Make sure that you completely dry it.
Immediately turn off the power if the motor is locked, otherwise the motor and/ or battery may burn.
Make sure that the motor unit winding is not damaged and/ or wet with oil or water. Replace the carbon brushes as soon as they become worn and keep your tool clean. Use only the carbon brush made especially for your model.
Store your cordless drill somewhere that is 104F (40C) or below and out of children’s reach.
Any repair that needs to be done should be done in Hitachi Authorized Service Centers by Hitachi Authorized Service Personnel.
If you follow these tips then you can rest assured that your tool will function to its fullest capacity and have a longer life.
